Daddy D'z is pretty ridiculous in a couple of ways (signage, spelling, lack of Internet presence). Fortunately, it's also delicious in ALL the ways. Pork ribs are probably the biggest draw here--they're what stand out the most from my visits--but the whole menu tends to get pretty high marks from locals. This funky little shack is in Grant Park, just a couple blocks West of the previously discussed Oakland Cemetery. You could probably work out a pretty nice plan for walking and eating and walking a day away, if you thought about it. Aside from being a low-key local favorite since 1993, Daddy D'z (The BBQ Joynt, as it is properly known) is also the meat-ing place for #MEATWEEK first Sundays. MEAT WEEK, if you aren't aware, is a magical stretch of seven days in January when BBQ fans across the country (the world?) gather for nightly ingestion of delicious smoked meats and conversation. In Atlanta, Daddy D'z is always the first stop--typically a late Sunday lunch followed by a group photo. #MEATWEEKISREAL, and you should discover it. Oh, it's pretty convenient to Turner Field, too, so maybe consider it as a pre-game option if you have the time. Savor these precious in-town ballpark days while you can, friends. SAVOR THEM.
