Lord, where to begin? First off, I wanted to send out the warmest thank you to everyone who stopped by my table over the weekend. Having a successful convention was something I desperately needed more than I care to admit and I truly appreciate it. It was so wonderful reuniting with old friends and making new ones, that's always a highlight of MechaCon weekend and this year didn't disappoint.
I'm so blessed that I had the opportunity to table at MechaCon one last time. I've attended this convention every year since it started in 2005 and it was the first convention I tabled at in 2009. For the past 11 years, it was a yearly ritual to spend a part of my summer preparing for this convention and it wasn't until Saturday night that all the emotions started to hit.
Sometimes you take something for granted until it's gone and this local con is certainly an example of that. I met so many people who I consider close friends through or at this convention and it gave me an amazing opportunity to connect & talk with fellow artists. Mark it up to Louisiana's "culture" but there was definitely a strong family vibe to the crowd and I adored it so much.
I can't thank everyone enough for all the memories and kindness I received over the years. Thank you so much to the volunteers and staff who kept this convention running for 16 wonderful years. Thank you to everyone who ever stopped by my table and supported me in one way or another.
I know someday a new convention will eventually take its place but one can't help but feel that it's the end of an era. Don't know how & when, but I know we'll see each again.
