imagine the akiba ladies as characters in g gundam
Hmm…I think Ikura and KozKoz would fare the best in the G Gundam universe, honestly. Just because they’re both giant nerds who would be super into that? I’ve actually thought about Gundam AUs for everyone, and honestly, most of the time I end up placing everyone in UC.
I try not to do that, but….! I do. Probably has to do with me having Ikura, Yuna, and Keiko in the party in SD Gundam G Generation Genesis. Whoops. I it intentional? Nope, of course not. It’s just easier not to resist it and give in.
Given Ikura’s love of having options for different tactical situations, I would say the RX-81 G-Line. It’s got 3 different frames (Standard, Light, Assault) it can swap between before deployment, and a wide arsenal suited for different roles. Standard for general combat; Light for recon and other low profile missions (probably space combat too, now that I think about it; and Assualt for completely decimating anything in her way. And before you ask, yes, there is a final form. It’s called the G-Line Full Custom, and it’s probably going to kick your shit in considering it pulls armoring and weaponry from all 3 frames.
Really, the only downside to the G-Line is that out of the Akiba Ladies, Ikura’s Mobile Suit would be the oldest, since it was put into production towards the tail-end of the One Year War and was put into combat in 0081 to wipe out a group of outlying Zeon soldiers called the Invisible Knights. Models capable of using the Full Custom frame were fielded in 0083, during Operation Stardust. However, I believe that Ikura’s mechanical skills would more than make up for the G-Line’s age, and she could probably keep customizing it so it could keep up with newer tech.
Keiko is a no-brainer: she has the AMX-018 [HADES] Todesritter, a very pretty lady who harbors a dark secret. For starters: armed to the fucking teeth, with equipment dragged from various Neo Zeon units to make sure it is totally and wholly capable of living up to the legacy of its predecessor (the Pale Rider), which is tearing your fucking face off. The Todesritter also has a pair of extra arms in its backpack that are capable of wielding beam sabers, so, you know, if you thought you could attack it from behind, NOPE.
But the big thing is that the Todesritter is equipped with the HADES (Hyper Animosity Detect Estimate System). An offshoot of the EXAM system used by the Blue Destiny family of Mobile Suits, this buffs up the performance of the Todesritter and increases the reaction time of its pilot. Only downside is that overuse leads to memory loss. Not only that, but the HADES system is capable of activating without the pilot’s consent if it detects a perceived threat, ally or no. Keiko would be an absolute monster on the battlefield with this bad girl, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Yuna would have the MST-15K Gyan Kai. Just like its predecessor, the Gyan Kai got passed over for a far superior and less expensive design for mass production (in this case, the Bawoo; before, it was the Gelgoog). Difficult to control, limited focus, and minimal weaponry mean that only an absolute ace could handle it.
It’s armed with only a large beam sword and a shield. The shield is loaded with Needle Missiles, which, due to their small size aren’t that effective on their own. However, unloaded in full volleys that’s a different story. I feel like Yuna would have trouble piloting this at first, but given enough time and training it would more an extension of her than just a machine.
Hikaru I’ve always struggled with but now I feel kind of like a dumbass because the answer was sitting in front of me. Wings? Check. Gold? Check. It’s the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex , the third and last Mobile Suit in the Unicorn line. God, I feel stupid that I hadn’t thought of this.
Just like the Unicorn and the Banshee, the Phenex is usually locked into its Unicorn Mode, but when the NT-D System activates, the psychoframe opens up to reveal the Destroy Mode. Boy, would I hate to be whoever is on the other end of that. As far as armaments go, it’s got two I-Field equipped shields that are standard in the Unicorn family of MS, though on the Phenex they are mounted on the back to act as wings. It’s got four beam sabers- one in each arm, and two on the back. The ones mounted in the arm can flip around to act as tonfas, so that’s kind of nifty. It’s a very barebones Gundam, but it honestly more than makes up with it because of the NT-D. And, since, ironically, Newtypes are best at handling the amount of stress induced on the pilot by the NT-D System, Hikaru is a Newtype by extension.
Together, you’ve got a badass squad of Mobile Suits that could probably take on anything that was thrown at them. Sure, they each have their weaknesses, but the others make up for them. I do wonder, though…what would Kozue pilot?
