About six years ago, Meghann O'Brien started delving into her First Nations roots. She sold her sled, said good-bye to Whistler-livin', and headed north to Prince Rupert to learn from her Haida elders and masters the fine art of weaving. Since then she has chased mountain goats for wool, stripped the bark off many a cedar tree, slept in yurts in the backcountry while weaving and snowboarding for days on end, and hassplitboarded into some pretty epic unknown Rupert zones. At the end of Nov, she will be receiving the BC Aborigional Achievement Award for all that she has accomplished with her own two hands. Congrats @meghaanobrien - you are an inspiration. To learn more about splitboarding around the Prince Rupert area, join Meghann as she opens up 'The Little Things' movie by speaking about her adventures for the @mec Film Festival on Sat, Nov 22nd at 5pm. Show runs from 4-8pm. #princerupert #mecsnowfest #vancouver #powder #bc #explorebc #aborigionalachievementaward @freshaircinema @protectourwinters @cpawsbc @arcteryx
