Pharmacy counseling fun
In school we were taught to try and break counseling on meds down into easy to understand ways. I wanna share some of my favorites I've come up with, and would love to hear some of yours. *I work in some pretty rural areas *edit - so if anything sounds kinda hokey pokey thats why
Mucinex (guaifenesin) - its kinda like soap for your lungs, so you gotta take it with lots of water for it to work and clean stuff up.
Sudafed - imagine your sinuses are like a clogged drain. Sudafed is like draino- you really only need to take it when there's a clog.
Antihistamines- these are like turning off the tap for the above clogged drain.
Blood thinners- Keeps you from throwing a clot, like how keeping the oil changed in your car keeps it from throwing a rod
Beta blockers- on this medication it is really easy to move faster than your heart, so you can pass out if you shoot up from sitting or laying down
ACEs/ARBs - these block chemicals that your body makes that makes your heart beat harder
Please feel free to add your own, I would love to see what people come up with!
