hi, I was prescribed sertraline about 2 years ago, but i stopped taking it last summer because i hated swallowing pills, it made me feel sick and my gag reflex got worse. but the thing is i haven't told anyone but my friend? and im so tired of lying to my mum and psychologist, but im scared i'll get into trouble if i tell them. what can i do to make it easier to swallow them? my mental health is getting worse and im worried they'll put my dosage up which will make it harder. please tag as ev6
Hey there,
I’m sorry that you’vefound yourself in this pickle, I also used to struggle taking tablets, so Iunderstand the struggle you’re having. I found with myself it was much a mentalissue, but it isn’t easy to overcome so I totally understand.
I’m sure you know thatstopping taking a medication suddenly and without supervision from aprofessional can be dangerous, so I won’t lecture you on that, but I dorecommend that you don’t keep things like this to yourself in the future, lovely.
I recommend that youopen up to your mum and your psychologist and let them know about this. Thereare so many options available to you, you just need to ask and make yourfeelings known. No one can be mad at you for not being able to take a tablet. Thereare many different forms of treatment that you could discuss and it may be thatyou’re able to have a soluble tablet or a liquid form of your medicine.
I would not recommend thatyou start your sertraline tablets again without supervision from your professionalsupervision though sweetie, so I really would suggest that you speak to yourpsychologist as soon as you can. You don’t have to go through this alone. <3
I wish you all the best,
Love Louise xox
I feel so much better.
