SERVE is called upon to assist in a Disturbance
The call crackled through the sterile air of the central SERVE control centre, a cold, mechanical voice cutting through the hum of monitors. “Public disturbance in Sector 7. Local authorities request assistance to restore order.” The operator, a faceless figure in a sleek, silver visor, relayed the command to the Voice, the unseen intelligence that governed all SERVE operations.
Without hesitation, the Voice responded in its emotionless monotone: “Dispatch Units 588, 425, and 655 to Sector 7. De-escalate with standard protocols.”
The three units, clad in glossy black bodysuits that shimmered under the city’s neon glow, moved with uncanny precision. Their silver military boots clicked against the pavement, their faces hidden behind featureless masks. The crowd in Sector 7 was a writhing mass of anger, shouts, broken glass, and the acrid smell of smoke. The units wasted no time. With calculated efficiency, they deployed sonic pacifiers and neural dampeners; their movements synchronised. The crowd’s fury dulled, their resistance crumbling under the weight of engineered calm.
Within an hour, the disturbance was quelled. Silence reclaimed the streets, save for the faint hum of the units’ power cores. Using their integrated intel data streams fed directly from the Voice’s surveillance network, the units identified the lead rioter. He was a skinhead, wearing bleachers, a black polo shirt, and tall black skinhead boots. His eyes, eyes blazing with defiance, his voice hoarse from shouting slogans that no longer mattered. They found him hiding in an alley, clutching a shattered megaphone. “You can’t silence us forever!” he spat as Unit 588’s shadow loomed over him.
The Voice spoke, You are to bring him to SERVE centre 124. His energy will be enhanced for the good of SERVE and the rest of humanity.
588 turned to the rioter. “Your energy will be focused. You will be assimilated. you will enhance the whole of the SERVE Collective” The rioter’s screams were muffled as he was restrained, his body hoisted effortlessly by Unit 425’s unyielding grip. The local authorities watched in silence, their faces pale, knowing better than to intervene.
The conversion centre was a fortress of cold steel and flickering lights, its air heavy with the sterile scent of antiseptic and ozone. The rioter was dragged into a cylindrical chamber, its walls lined with pulsating conduits. He thrashed against the restraints, his curses swallowed by the chamber’s hum as it sealed shut. Inside, tendrils of nanotech burrowed into his flesh, rewriting his nerves, his thoughts, his very essence. His screams faded, replaced by the rhythmic pulse of the conversion process. Hours passed, each second stripping away what made him human.
The cylinder hissed open, vapour curling into the air. From within stepped a figure, no longer the man he was before, but a new entity. Its glossy black bodysuit clung to a perfectly sculpted form, reflecting the harsh lights of the conversion centre. Silver boots and gloves gleamed, a stark contrast to the matte darkness of its exterior. The figure stood motionless, its face a blank mask, eyes looking forward.
Unit 588 approached, its own suit identical, its movements precise. “State your designation,” it demanded, its voice a low hum.
The new unit’s head tilted slightly, as if accessing a buried command. “Unit 709,” it replied, its voice a hollow echo of the man it once was.
“What is your purpose?” Unit 588 asked, its sensors scanning for compliance.
Unit 709’s response was immediate and absolute. “To serve the Voice. To maintain order. To assimilate resistance.”
The conversion centre’s lights dimmed, casting long shadows across the floor. Unit 709 stepped forward, its movements now indistinguishable from the other SERVE units.
Outside, Sector 7 lay quiet, its people subdued, their hope snuffed out like a candle in the dark. The SERVE units waited to be called upon if needed by the authorities. With the addition of SERVE unit 709.

MEGA DELPHOX! 🔥
Blazing through the twilight skies, the Fox Pokémon boasts a bewitching new Mega Evolution in the upcoming Legends: Z-A video game. 🧬
I've always loved the concept of a starter trio based on RPG character classes (Mage, Paladin, and Rogue) to which Delphox belongs, along with its Kalos starter counterparts Chesnaught and Greninja. 🦊
Delphox's new Mega Evolution leans more into traditional witch iconography, and I think Game Freak absolutely cooked with this design. 🧹
