Obligatory work selfie
Is any other media professional absolutely sick of AI already? My mother suggests it. Any and all innovation in my field seems to be AI related. Course mates use it for everything, teachers encourage their use (?), even my damn THERAPIST tells me to "just ask chat" if I want to change a behavior or system in my life. People look at me like I'm crazy when I angrily tell them for the twentieth time not to tell me to "just ask chat".
After 10 years of media and tech related studies, I think I'll start ripping my mp3s, printing and scrapbooking memories again, buying dvd's and using a brick phone for short texts and calls only. Tumblr could be an exception to the social media rule (for now), but bye Meta and any other AI-integrated or related platforms.
The speed at which people just accept this "tool" into their lives is ridiculous. This, combined with wars and global privacy/data leak problems is a breeding ground for some really terrible things and I will NOT be a part of it.
This used to be a novelty thing! We were happy when we had a brainstorming partner for creative projects? Now, entire businesses run on AI! Healthcare, the arts, AV businesses, graphic design, finance, coding... it's all replaceable and IT IS being replaced as we speak??? And people don't seem to care???????
