Introduction To MediaLand

Welcome to MediaLand.

You may be wondering what medialand is. It is described as "where we go intellectually and emotionally when whenever we access the media." That's it in a nutshell. 

I wanted to have my first post be a bit introductory, but I feel that there is no need to introduce myself. I am just another servant of the all powerful media empire. The entity that engulfs our lives. Sure, I'm an individual. But I'm also part of the mass. Hence, "Mass Media."

I just wanted to post a picture that I came across a few days ago that I thought did an excellent (if not politically pointed) job of describing one of the darker sides of the media, our alleged best friend.

We like to think that the media is our friend. And indeed it is. But we must always remember that the media is unarguably about one thing above all else. The dollar. It may entertain, inform, and educate us, but the media is at its basest level is all about making a profit. Is there anything wrong with that? I don't think so. But maybe we should be a little more hesitant to accept whatever the media (whether television, newspaper, book, recording, movie, or even this blog) puts on our plate.

Just food for thought.
