Why Meghan’s Press Cheerleaders Will Never Cease to Annoy Me
So, are we enjoying the Markel takeover of the Invictus Games yet?
Who cares about brave veterans when there’s a royal romance/soap opera to soak up all the attention, amirite?
Certainly not Harry Wales who did zero promo for these games or for the competitors involved.
Here’s the Invictus Games promo a week before the 2017 Games.
Compare that to the Invictus promo one week before the 2016 Games.
I’ve had to scour military outlets looking for info on the athletes and the games. Heck, even when the athletes are front and center, Meghan is always brought up.
Thanks for nothing, Hazza. Oh, well at least Media Meg got a ton of coverage. That’s all that matters, right?
But maybe the Media Meg hype has been great for games and resulted in tons more coverage, no? According to Richard Palmer the romance will result in tons of coverage for the deserving charities. That’s supposedly why Harry supposedly scheduled Meghan supposedly “first official” event during Invictus. He wanted all that lovely pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-engagement press to benefit the charity closest to his heart.
Let’s check how that worked out, shall we? Has the Meghan hype benefited the games.
Er, nope.
The hype has benefited only Ms. Meghan “I know what the holes in bread are called” Markle.
Maybe you should have actually done some build up promo, Hazza. You know, just for kicks?
But, hey, maybe he was too busy to do promo. He was probably toiling away doing royal work in London, right?
Nope, here’s BFF Lainey “My ‘Friend’ Rode the Heathrow Express with Meghan and Harry” Liu telling us that he actually arrived in Toronto on Tuesday.

He did a ton photo ops, appearances, and cute stories to build up Orlando games and the participating athletes last year.
Not this time. Couldn't be bothered.
And can someone please tell the Markle media cheerleaders to Google the charity before they write crap about them? True Patriot Love supports caregivers and families of disabled and suffering ex-military personnel. Most of those caregivers and family members are women. That’s why the crowd was full of women. They weren’t there to drool over Harry or “lament the fact that they have no chance with him.” They were there because it’s their organization and their issues and their lives. They aren’t groupies and Lainey’s post is both disrespectful and demeaning.
The whole thing is disrespectful and demeaning to the athletes, the caregivers and the countries and organizations participating the games.
But they don’t care. Heck, they can’t even be bothered to put the name of the charity or even the games on the title of the articles.
It’s not the Invictus Games any more it’s “Harry’s First Public Appearance with Meghan Markle” now.
Enjoy the show.
