It’s not often that a movie trailer is so intriguing and captivating that it makes you sit in silence wondering what is going to happen next. That was exactly what happened when I watched the trailer for "A Quiet Place”, starring real life married couple, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. The plot for the movie is still a mystery but if the trailer is any indication, this is going to be a movie worth seeing.
"A Quiet Place”, which is also directed by John Krasinski opens in theatres in April 2018. In the meantime, you can check out the teaser trailer below.
BTS Will Be Performing Live at the AMAs Tomorrow Night
BTS will be performing for the first time at an American awards show at the American Music Awards this Sunday. The Korean boy band has amassed an incredibly strong following with over 17 million Twitter followers and they were named one of Time magazine’s 25 most influential people on the internet. Earlier this year, BTS also won the Billboard Music Award for “Top Social Artist”. Their song “DNA” has been rising on the Top 40 charts in North America and it marks a big leap for K-pop in the North American market. This will also be the first live T.V. performance of the song in America. I know the BTS ARMY is going to be excited for this one.
These are some of the pictures from BTS’s rehearsal (via AMAs) in preparation for their big performance tomorrow night.
The show will also feature performances by P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Selena Gomez and more. You can watch the AMAs live on ABC tomorrow night (Sunday November 19th) at 8 pm EST/5 pm PST.
*Note: The show will be airing at 10 am KST on Monday November 20, 2017.
Last night was the first Canadian stop of JoJo’s Mad Love Tour at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. A quick refresher for those who are thinking, “I remember that name…” JoJo emerged onto the music scene in 2004 at the age of 13 with the hit song “Leave (Get Out)”. Yup, I’m talking about that JoJo! After a lengthy battle with her former record company, JoJo is finally back with a new studio album. She released her latest album “Mad Love” in October, 2016 and she has been hustling making sure that her new music is heard (You can read my full review of the Mad Love album here).
I didn’t quite know what to expect going into the show. I knew that she had amazing music and the voice to match so I expected a great show but I underestimated JoJo (Note: Never underestimate JoJo!). Since it was a general admission show, you had to lineup for a great spot and if you’re going solo to the show don’t worry, JoJo fans are some of the nicest fans I’ve ever met and you will find people to hang out with at the show.
JoJo had two opening acts, Locals Only and Craig Stickland who both did a great job and kept the crowd entertained throughout their sets. I’m sure they gained a lot of new fans last night.
When JoJo finally hit the stage the crowd went crazy and you could tell that this was going to be a show filled with incredible energy. The fans sang along to every single one of JoJo’s songs and you could see the appreciation on JoJo’s face all night. The majority of the songs that she performed were from her latest album Mad Love but of course she sang some of her older hits, including Too Little, Too Late and her amazing rendition of Marvin’s Room. The set list was organized in such an incredible way and the night went through a great progression, including a portion of the show where she sat down with her guitarist, Kenji Chan. She ended the show with Good Thing and had the crowd jumping up and down with her.
With respect to her vocals, she sounds even better live than on her recordings and that’s saying a lot because she sounds incredible on her album. JoJo is a powerhouse vocalist who can also make you feel every single word that she’s singing and that is a combination that is incredibly rare in the music industry. Her energy remained high until the end and she interacted with the crowd so well, making sure that every single person there knew that they were appreciated.
The production value in small venue concerts usually isn’t anything spectacular but I was once again pleasantly surprised. JoJo raised the bar and brought in her own lights creating a big stage production feel in an intimate setting. She also shared the spotlight with her incredible backup singers, Keisha Renee and Kene Alexander, and band, guitarist Kenji Chan, keyboardist and musical director Quintin Gulledge (a.k.a. Q) and drummer Chuck Norris III (yes, his real name is Chuck Norris). You could see the love and respect that she has for every single person who is on tour with her. They truly are an incredible and talented group of individuals.
Overall, if you get a chance to see JoJo in concert definitely go. You do not want to miss this show and you do not want to miss an opportunity to see this incredible star in a small venue before she takes over the industry again. If you’re one of those music fans right now wondering whether any good music still exists in the industry, I promise you that JoJo is the one that’s making it. Listen to her album and you’ll know it. Go to her show and you will never look back because you will be a fan.
Special note to the music industry: Do not underestimate JoJo. Some tried to keep her down but she rose again and came back even stronger. She is the type of artist that will renew faith in the music industry and bring back the real music that has been missing for so long. Put your energy behind this incredible artist and make sure her music gets heard. Her fans are going to do their part as always. Show the music fans that you’re serious about supporting talented artists.
