So, how would 2003 Leo or Raph be a medic, anyway?

Let Raph Be Team Medic!

You know what I want to see in TMNT (no specific version, just in general)? Raph as team medic.

Everyone seems to default to Donnie as the medic of the group because of his love of science, and sure, he’d love knowing the how behind it all, but he’s an engineer at heart, he’d rather be building stuff. 

Raphael cares so much about his family. He’d learn how to patch up their wounds, how to tell the difference between an injury that needed work right away and one that could wait until they were safe at home, because like shell (I’ve been watching 2k3, lol) is he going to stand idly by when someone he cares about is hurt, and this is more helpful than beating up the person that did it (that comes later).

He’d know all about injuries too, years of hitting walls in frustration and going to town on punching bags until he could barely stand giving him so much experience with injuries, he’s able to glance and say if it just needs to be washed off and covered up or if it’s time to go to the med bay. 

It would help Raph too, with his rages. When his brothers get hurt then he’s able to patch them up himself, know just how bad the wound is and how it’ll heal, which takes away the uncertainty and fear that would plague him when ever anyone had to stay in the med bay for an extended period of time because he didn’t know if they were going to be alright. It lets him feel more useful to the team, muscle can only do so much and he can’t guarantee that he’ll always be the strongest guy out there, and with this any feelings of uselessness he would bury deep until he exploded again would be alleviated, this would be a role that’s always needed knowing his brothers.

Heaven help you if you try to hide or downplay an injury though (looking at you two Leo and Donnie). He’d carry them to get checked out himself if need-be, and he’s still the muscle so no one stands a chance when he catches them.

And can’t you just imagine how hilarious he’d be as a medic too, his bedside manner pure snark and sarcasm?

(Raph, after seeing Donnie’s still in his lab after an all-night project binge): “Don, ya haven’t eaten since last night and ya sure as shell didn’t sleep last night, that’s absolute shit for your body so go eat a sandwich and take a nap before I shove one down your throat and sedate ya, I know how.” Donnie, grumbling: “I regret ever letting you open a medical textbook.”

(Leo, after being dragged to the med bay): “Remind me again why we agreed to have you be the medic around here?” Raph: “Someone’s gotta make sure you bozos stay in one piece.”

(Mikey, being dragged to get flu vaccination): “Come onnnnn, Raph, I hate those shots Donnie whips up, my arm’s going to be sore for days!” Raph: “Nuh-uh, remember how I let you skip last year and then you got the flu? You get even weirder when you’ve got a high fever and that shit can be deadly and I’m not dealing with that again this year if I can help it!”

Hang on hang on hey I need to explain why all Mikeys are Airbenders and most Donnies are Earthbenders and how most Leos are waterbenders and most Raphs are firebenders
