One of the biggest misconceptions about chronic illness is that the longer you’ve been sick, the less support you need.

I would argue the opposite.

If illness has become the landscape of your entire life, why would you suddenly need less community?

Starting Excel course today. My first training module is 34 tasks, plus all the “bookwork” and tests. Ugh. Really wish I had some coffee. Mine went missing from the fridge? A whole carton just went missing... I’m the ONLY one who drinks it and it’s not in the trash??

I don’t know.

another good thing about today?

if i complete my Excel course by may 1st, that will mean that i have completed 2 trimesters in LESS than 1 trimester. (I started jan 27th instead of beginning of term jan 6th)

i’m really, really proud of myself. i’ve been working so much and trying to get things done, that i’ve been working ahead of schedule. i have to because i’m getting two diplomas instead of one.

things i need to do

finish writing my Letter of Inquiry for my class assignment.

finish designing and writing my resume for my class assignment.

scream into the void.

begin working on assignment 10, which is 3 parts.

I AM OFFICIALLY DONE WITH TRIMESTER 1 !!

Well, technically, I have my week internship March 16-20, but I can officially start trimester 2 work today. Which means I can get HELLA done during spring break March 9-13.

I was told all my bookwork and tests grades will be graded by the time I come back from spring break. At that point, I find out if I made it into the national technical honor society.

Anyway I’m really proud of myself.

Why does nobody in healthcare know where your referral went !!!

Ok can we talk about how much time gets wasted in healthcare offices because nobody can just... see what's happening with a referral?

Like your doctor sends you to a specialist and then it's radio silence. You call, they call, someone's checking a fax machine from 2004.Meanwhile you're just sitting there wondering if you're getting care or not

The wild part is this isn't a "healthcare is broken" problem, it's a "nobody built a decent system for this" problem. There's a whole category of tools (healthcare CRM software, referral tracking software, whatever you want to call it) that exists specifically to fix this — one place to see if a referral was sent, received, scheduled, done. no more guessing.

Practices that actually use this stuff see patient satisfaction jump a LOT. Not because the doctors got better. because patients stopped falling into a black hole between appointments.
