I hope this doesn't sound weird but if you want things to be period accurate it's probably worth knowing that there are no colleges or college dorms in Germany and afaik never have been. it's just universities and if you want to attend uni you have to find a regular apartment in the place the uni is in - there's no big campuses with on-campus living or anything like that cause unis in germany are usually just part of the city structure so there's no space for that 👍
not weird at all! i enjoy asks like this, knowledge is very nice to have!!
however this is more a me being very bad with "english words in this setting" moment. because I genuinely can never remember that dormmate is not the same as student roommates who go to the same school (which, yeah on second thought it makes sense because dormitories are specific things that exist near schools or whatever) and that college is not the same as university (i still dont really understand the difference, despite being a uni student)!! this is a helpful reminder that i need to. update my language use for education settings. is there a specific word for students who go to the same school and house together?? would be useful.
ill go update the post tags to use proper wording good lord im sorry
