Wei Ying grinned, picked up his bag off the floor, and fished out his own cell. He pressed it to Lan Zhan’s until they both beeped, then he looked over the new contact.

“Your ID image is a rabbit.”

“Yes.”

He lit up and leaned even closer. “Do you like rabbits?!”

Lan Zhan scowled at him. “Do friends make fun of each other’s interests?”

He pouted. “I’m not making fun! It’s so cute! I never would have guessed. Am I not allowed to be charmed when you do something adorable?”

A small wrinkle appeared between Lan Zhan’s perfect eyebrows. “Wei Ying, I’ll be here. It’s fine.”

He chuckled. “See? I’m already annoying you.”

“Is that your goal?” Gold eyes narrowed at him. “Why are you so against accepting my help?”

He shook his head, “I’m not. It’s not just you. This would be a pain for anyone.”

Lan Zhan blinked. “What, in your mind, would qualify you for my assistance?”

He hummed, “I don’t know. If I was bleeding? Only if it was a lot though.”

“Why did you—,” He turned toward the nearest mirror to see he was now wearing a black beanie with long rabbit ears hanging down on both sides.

“Ha! Cute!” He shook his head to make the ears fly around. “I’m a bunny!”

He scampered back into the same section Lan Zhan had just left so he could hunt through it. When he found the same hat in white, he cheered triumphantly and ran back to put it on his date’s head.

“There! Now we can be bunnies together.”

His expression was unruffled, but he stared at him intently. Wei Ying smiled and tried to work out what he wanted to say.

“Are you happy?”

That question got him kissed in the middle of the store.

“You heard him,” Wei Ying dragged Lan Zhan into the back row of seats and pushed him down into an open chair. “Looks like you’re stuck with me.” He plopped down beside him and started draining his coffee like it was water.

“You don’t seem that low on energy,” Lan Zhan observed.

“Good eye,” he agreed, “but you see, I don’t drink coffee to give me energy. I drink coffee to make the rabid hamsters in my brain run on the correct wheels.”

“So… do you still think the Lans aren’t going to find out about this?” Wei Ying asked Huaisang as he looked around at all the noisy people jumping into the water, squealing, and playing music on portable speakers. “You have no guarantee it will be Lan Huan who shows up to put a stop to it.”

A-Sang dismissed him with a wave of his hand. “It’s harmless. I’m sure it will be fine.”

Wei Ying sighed and shook his head. “Whatever you say.”
