Google Glass Smackdown
Last Wednesday night Boston’s healthcare and entrepreneurial community descended upon the Google offices in Kendall Square to explore the various ways Google Glass could be implemented in various healthcare settings. The Google Glass Smackdown was the creation of MedTechBoston, an organization highlighting the exciting innovation work happening in and around the city. Boston Young Healthcare Professionals (BYHP) sponsored the smackdown and was able to offer its members a discount on admission to the sold out audience of over 200 professionals.
The event focused on how the wearable, hands-free technology could be used in a variety of healthcare settings. The event began with keynote speakers highlighting how they are incorporating Google Glass into their current practices. This included Dr. Rafael Grossman, who was the first surgeon to ever use the technology during a live surgery, and Steve Horng, who is the emergency department lead for the Google Glass Project at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Afterwards, 13 finalists presented their ideas for incorporating the technology into a healthcare setting. More details about the presenters and their pitches can be found in a piece written by MedTech Boston.
BYHP works with different organizations around the Boston area to offer its members and followers discounts to various events. Keep up to date with these events by checking out the BYHP Calendar and signing up for our mailing list!
