Study Session || Jamie and Antoinette
If there was one thing Antoinette couldn’t stand in her classes it was group projects. Having to trust some immature, talkative classmate to focus on the project and not drag her grade down? At least she could usually try and pick someone somewhat competent to work with or take complete control of the project, a feat easily accomplished with how little work ethic her peers seemed to have.
But when the teacher assigned the pairings? That’s when she got stuck with people like Jamie--aggravating and unwilling to let her do this on her own. While he was competent enough her grade never dropped horribly whenever they were paired, and it did keep happening, but all she could focus on until the got their grade back was the many ways they could do better or how he must be holding her back.
With her patience for him already so low, there was very little room for him to make honest mistakes--such as failing to show up on time. While she waited, she pulled out her papers and looked them over, though they were far enough into the assignment that she needed him--more importantly, his share of the work--to continue. At the most, it was ten minutes. Hell, one could even argue that Antoinette had actually shown up too early--it wouldn’t be the first time. But she didn’t like Jamie, so she was very quick to blame him. She didn’t even spare a glance when she heard his approach or when he pulled his chair out across from her. Sniffing harshly, she looked up, tap-tap-tapping away at the library table with the eraser of her pencil, only when he was sat.
“I trust you have a good reason for showing up late, Jamie.” Not even a hello, but that’d be breaking routine.
