"As a third generation Philadelphian, I'm proud and grateful to call this flourishing city my home. I love Philadelphia's cobblestone streets, quaint neighborhoods, food, culture, diversity and most of all, the city's love for dogs. My playful pooch, Sophia, enjoys just as much of Philly as the average human. Meet Jennifer Russell, our international recruitment guru. Jennifer has worked with international students for almost 20 years and she's learned a lot along the way. She recently returned from a trip to India (pictured) and explained what she likes best about traveling.

"Working with students from overseas is fantastic. I travel all over the world to meet with prospective students and their families. Some people say "the world is small" but I disagree. I think the world is huge! There are so many languages, religions, histories, cultures...I have traveled in more than 60 countries, but I still have so much yet to learn. The Bryn Mawr community provides just that opportunity."

This week we'd like you to meet one of our newest staff members and fellow women's college alumna, Afiya Johnson-Thornton. Afiya had this to say about her women's college experience.

"I'm so thankful for the existence of women's colleges, and for how much my very sweet and well-intentioned mama pushed them on me during the college application process. My women's college experience gave me the scaffolding to expand my worldview, confidence to showcase my brilliance, and the supportive nudge to discover my best self. After learning and growing with some of most incredible (and nervy) people I've ever known, I became a firm believer in what they say about us women's college folk (which I totally used to chalk up to recruitment hype) - we've got guts and grit, we're outspoken and opinionated, and we're driven by leaving the world at least a little better than we found it."
