Mega Emotion | I Want So Much More Than You Can Give
See previous post, from a forthcoming split LP, Move, Motherfucker / I Know You Know I’m Perfect.
I Want So Much More Than You Can Give by Mega Emotion
reminder of brains
MUSIC I LIKE(S) (3 of 4)
A band nobody's heard of from Brooklyn called Palomar is OKAY. Again, spotty output and much of it is quite normal but there's some choice shit like THIS which is a fave of mine 4 life.
If you wanna go weirder, Bearsuit is one of my favorites. Some of their songs are quite pretty, some are SCREAMING, this one's kinda in the middle.
That band (and actually most of the ones I've mentioned) are not together anymore but the core people from it are now in a band called Mega Emotion who have done some good, sort of dancey stuff.
If you want to go back to underrated, old-school pop/rock from the 70s, Dolly Mixture BLEW MY MIND back when I first heard them because a lot of their music sounds like types of music that didn't exist back when they made it. Like the chords in this remind me in a SMALL WAY of Nirvana.
If you don't mind going a little funkier, I like earlier stuff by The Rapture. The Out of the Races and Onto The Tracks EP is one of my favorite things. It's fucking weird and noisy though. Title track is quite likable though (you may have heard it in the quite poor film, The Rules of Attraction).

Mega Emotion - B R A I N S
Yes, the chorus is a woman singing “Braay-aaay-aaains” again and again
This sounds a bit like Los Campesinos vs. Faith No More’s Be Aggressive. It’s been stuck in my head since yesterday. I love finding new music

SOME LOVELY 'BEST OF' MENTIONS
The wonderful MEGA EMOTION included 'Beetle' by SHRINES in their favourite songs of 2014 >>here<<. YEAH!
ALSO Lauren Mayberry (CHVRCHES) named Kids In Heat by Hannah Lou Clark her 'song of the year' on DiS >>here<<.
THANKS BUDDIES!
Our best of 2014
OK, well this is a list we came up with for DPAK blog, but thought we'd re-post it here to kick off our new blog along with links to the tracks. Let's get this show on the road > > >
Caribou – I Can’t Do Without You Bubble filtered vocals build in a driving brain-meltingly repetitive trance.
SHRINES – Beetle Any song with the chorus “I’m so bored, so bored, out of my fucking mind” is a winner. Hypnotically slow and catchy. Released on the awesome Gravy Records label.
FKA Twigs – Two Weeks Pure pop vox and production with electro/synth laden backup.
Julian Casablancas and the Voidz – Where No Eagles Fly Scuzzy, dirty, shouty, and brilliantly catchy.
Aphex Twin – minipops 67 [120.2] Laid back, spacey and swirling, with plenty of pops, glitches and distorted vocals to fuck your mind over.
Alvvays – Archie, Marry Me Reverb-heavy dream pop of the swirling, fizzing desperately romantic variety.
Deerhoof – Paradise Girls Classic Deerhoof. Huge guitar licks, immense percussion, 6/4 beats and general craziness – although probably the most straightforward track on a brilliantly odd and beautiful album, La Isla Bonita.
Trust Fund – Cut Me Out Summery grunge pop, and definitely the year’s best pop video!
Young Fathers – Get Up A fantastic live act, and this track in particularl is infectious and dance-frenzy invoking in equal measure.
Slow Club – Number One A stripped back piano ballad with beautifully tender vocal harmonies – this sounds like heartbreak at its most fragile. We couldn't love this track more.
