Just a super massive list of various weapons from all the characters in Mega Man games/comics/shows/etc. I know there is no way you’ll be able to see the whole thing well here on tumblr so feel free to head over to DA to see the full size thing http://fortegigasgospel.deviantart.com/art/Every-Mega-Man-Weapon-and-Item-Extended-v4-666572224 .
I have credit for most of the spriters I have used things from over at DA if you wanna give them a look too since without them this wouldn’t be as far as it is, anyone not credited I simply don’t know what way to do so.
I just finished Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge (the first Game Boy one), so I made a tier list of how useful I found the special weapons to be. Order within the tiers is dictated by the order I obtained them in, so don't read too much into it. I'm using the enemy names found in the cast roll, so look there if you see a name you don't recognize.
A-Tier
Rolling Cutter: The best weapon in the game hands-down. It one-shots wide variety of enemies (Suzys, Scworms, Changkey Makers), destroys Screw Drivers lowered to the floor and Gabyoalls when the buster cannot, melts Elec Man, and does pretty well against Flash Man.
B-Tier
Ice Slasher: An excellent answer to Sniper Joes, Big Eyes, and Fire Man. Flash Man has a secondary weakness to it which would've made the fight easier had I recognized it.
Fire Storm: An excellent answer to Moles and Pipis, and a good way to empty the half of Quick Man's lifebar that Flash Stopper can't handle. Beating Cut Man buster-only was pretty tough and weaknesses outside the fortress do insane damage, so players who didn't start with Cut Man would probably have an easier time with him than I did.
Quick Boomerang: A sidegrade to the best weapon in the game, albeit one made less useful by how late you obtain it. Bubble Man is pretty scary on a tiny screen, so its place in the weakness cycle is a quite helpful.
C-Tier
Elec Beam: For the most part, the screen size of a Game Boy does not let enemies attack you from above or below; the downwards bolt doesn't accomplish anything at all. The low rate of fire meant that I didn't find the wide vertical range of the forward bolt useful against Bunby Heris, and the buster does well enough against them that I wasn't really yearning for a better answer. Still, there are enough enemies worth killing above the player for this weapon to have a niche in stages, and Ice Man would be scary if you couldn't 3-shot him.
Flash Stopper: This weapon will do exactly two things, halve Quick Man's life bar and freeze the trio of Super Cutters in the final stage, but both of those things are quite useful.
Bubble Lead: While this weapon provides a unique attack angle, the only enemy in the game which asks the player to attack from that angle is Heat Man. Heat Man is a pretty scary fight, though, so it still contributes to the player's success. I suppose it can kill the Gabyoall in the final stage, but it's not the only weapon capable of doing so.
Mirror Buster: There are no practical uses for this in the one stage you have access to it outside the boss fight against Wily Machine Phase 2, but in that fight, it's not a weapon that you have to put up with because it's the only option, it's a weapon that defangs half of Wily's attacks.
D-Tier
Atomic Fire: You'd think a chargeable weapon would be a good answer to the room in the final stage with Cutting Wheels and Super Cutters, but it's not, a semi-charged shot doesn't kill a Wheel, and the Super Cutters can block a fully charged shot. Other weapons do well enough against Flash Man that Atomic Fire's place in the weakness cycle is not a unique contribution, and while Wily Machine Phase 1 may be weak to it, it's such a mediocre weakness that I've seen guides say that it isn't a weakness. The pickups behind destructible walls at the last fork in the road are nice, but there are only two enemies on the tougher path, and taking the easier path requires Carry as much as it requires Atomic Fire. The only thing separating Heat Man from being an absolute fraud is a kinda tough boss fight.
My boss order was Cut Man, Elec Man, Ice Man, Fire Man, Flash Man, Quick Man, Bubble Man, Heat Man. That I successfully followed the weakness order was a mix of good reads, knowing the weakness orders of NES Mega Man I and II, and needing multiple attempts to beat Wily Stage 1.
Who designed the layout for the final stage of mega man 1 for the Gameboy. I just wanna talk to them. JUST WANNA FUCKING TALK TO THEM. TWO BULLSHIT YOKU BLOCK SECTIONS THEN A SECTION WITH UNKILLABLE ENEMIES THAT DO A THIRD OF MY HEALTH EACH HIT. AND ALL I GET TO HELP TRAVERSE THE STAGE PROPERLY IS A PLATFORM I CAN ONLY SUMMON ONE OF AT A TIME AND ITS SUMMONED DIRECTLY UNDER ME.
