Throwback Thursday: MEGA SHRUB - Shrubstep. Back when I went to music school and free recording studio time was just floating around in the wind... This studio was nuts, and it's right across the street from Fenway Park.
HERE IT IS. The single & possible title track from the upcoming MEGA SHRUB EP. The mathiest math rock I've ever done, featuring Logan Edmison and Drew ofthe Drew.
I've been trying to release this EP forever. I didn't even ask if I could upload this, I JUST DONT CARE. ENJOY.

I am in a band called MEGA SHRUB. This is the drum part to what will likely be the opening track on our upcoming EP (summer 2013-ish). When I wrote this I was really obsessing over Zach Hill and Vince Rogers, who are the two kingpins of math rock drums.
What's cool is that it has been a few years since I came up with the parts, so ideas that seemed nearly impossible before are now very doable. Interestingly, it wasn't the speed that was the problem - it was really me needing to learn how to slow down and groove more.
