In the dim light of a hidden bunker, Soldier Boy lit a cigarette, leaning back against the cold metal wall. He was supposed to be keeping watch, but his mind wandered, as it often did since he had been revived. The world had changed, and for a man like him, change was the enemy.

"Why so serious?" came a voice from the shadows.

Ben tensed, reaching for his shield, but paused when he saw a flash of blue skin and a glint of white teeth. "Who the hell are you?"

The figure stepped into the light, revealing himself to be tall, slender, and, most notably, very blue. "Megamind," he said with a theatrical flourish, his cape billowing dramatically behind him despite the lack of wind. "Supervillain, genius, and, I might add, not exactly from around here."

"Clearly," Ben muttered, though his grip on the shield relaxed. "You're not with Vought, are you?"

Megamind laughed, a rich, almost melodic sound that caught Ben off guard. "Vought? Please. I work for no one but myself."

"So, what do you want?" Ben asked, eyeing the alien with a mix of suspicion and curiosity.

Megamind tilted his head, studying the soldier before him. "You’re a man out of time, aren’t you? Lost, angry, confused." He stepped closer, his voice softening. "I know what it's like to feel... out of place."

Ben frowned, but he didn't move away. There was something about Megamind's words that struck a chord deep within him, something he hadn’t felt in a long time. "You’re not just here to talk, are you?"

Megamind grinned, showing off his sharp teeth. "I’ve got a knack for fixing things. And it seems to me that you could use some fixing." He reached out, his fingers brushing lightly against Ben cheek.

The touch was electric, sending a jolt through Soldier Boy’s body. He was used to violence, to power, but this was something different. It was gentle, almost tender, and it made him feel more vulnerable than any fight ever had.

"I don’t need fixing," Ben growled, though his voice lacked its usual bite.

"Don’t we all?" Megamind countered, his eyes softening as he looked at the man before him. "You’re strong, Soldier Boy. Stronger than you know. But strength isn’t just about power. Sometimes, it’s about letting someone in."

Ben didn’t answer, but he didn’t pull away, either. He could feel his defenses crumbling, piece by piece, under Megamind’s gaze. It was terrifying, but also… liberating.

Megamind smiled, sensing the shift. "Come with me," he whispered, leaning in so close that their lips were almost touching. "Let’s find a place where you can be who you really are. Where you don’t have to hide."

For a long moment, Ben was silent. Then, slowly, he nodded. "Alright, Blue. Lead the way."

As they stepped into the night, side by side, Ben felt something he hadn’t in years: hope. Maybe, just maybe, he had found someone who could understand him. Someone who could see the man behind the legend.

And maybe, that was enough.
