🦊 Fox Dee-tee-tah, the trend ! 💅🏽
by Tianita Miramax
If you’ve been a furb in the early 2000s and have a Dee-tee-tah (*tail), you surely one day in your teenage years, wore it the foxy way… Remember ?? You would delicately style your pompom to a glorious fox brush by using a lot of hairspray ! Sometimes, you even added a little ribbon to maximize the power of this wild look… I went in town to ask you your thoughts on this fabulous trend which makes its unexpected come back !
According to my researches, the first occurence of the fox Dee-tee-tah dates back to march 2000 : a young blogger, Trolouka (with the “miss Angels” shirt), uploaded a photo tutorial to teach you how to style your Dee-tee-tah in an original way. Reactions are enthusiastic and the trend begins to take over schools. But why is this Fox Style so popular ?
I got in touch with the original creator and sent her a confidential mail trying to know more about the phenomenon. She is now very discreet an busy but still managed to answer me..!
Brace yourselves, in exclusivity for Megafurbz, here is the truth about the origins of this very iconic look, that still perdures today:
📩
📟 Trolouka: When i was a kid, i was unleashed on the internet ! I wanted to be popular. I talked about my life, saying what was bothering me, and i also gave beauty advices to my friends ! I had this blog where i put photos of me at school or in my room dancing and singing. One day, i was bored, on my bed looking at the wall, and i had this poster of a snow fox. I started day-dreaming about it... I was a fan of wild earthling animals and i often imagined to be one of them, running through the forest… I had this idea of creating a style that would celebrate wild foxes… This was the most personal and spontaneous thing i shared on my blog… and this was by far the most successful. I think it was a thing that went from my heart, unlike most of the other superficial stuff that i did…
And i’m now amused that the fox Dee-tee-tah is still a thing ! I never thought it would be this famous !
I was hitting the end of my fashion investigation... The conclusion was crystal clear : secret ingredients of a successful look, according to a beauty queen, were passion and sincerity.
So buddies, don’t forget, fox Dee-tee-tah or not, you’re the most beautiful when you are truly yourselves ! 💗

🖌LOO LOO-LAY - 08/04/2022 🎨 Noo-loo Kay-tay Noh-bah / Kinetic smile
by Tianita Miramax
Loo Loo-Lay is a young artist who likes to work with black wee-tah wah-tah (*ink). Autodidact, they started doing portraits of furbz in the streets of their natal town Koo Way-loh, where they drew the attention of Dee-Mak, founder of the May-bee gallery. What has interested him was Loo’s natural ability to capture life, as fragmented instants of lucidity. The exhibition is entitled “Noo-Loo Kay-tay Noh-Bah” (*Kinetic Smile) and gather thirty wee-tah wah-tah (*inks) made between 2020 and 2022, Let’s go !
🐾
Tianita: Hello Loo ! Congratulation for your exhibition, which is visible at the May-bee gallery until June ! It must be exciting to show your work like this ?
Loo Loo-Lay: Yes ! that is a huge event for me ! I never had an exhibition before, i started doing art because it was the only thing i was good at… My family encouraged me, but it was not always easy to earn money… I think this is a big chance for me !
T: Can you describe your practice for our readers ? What inspires you ?
L: I like seeing the others, people that i know and that i don’t… I work mostly outside, i have my bag full of paper sheets that i lay on the ground, and i use my brush or a pen to create original pictures. I love doing furb faces, the eyes, the beak, they are very expressive !
T: I saw your portraits, and something very basic was questioning me : you look very colourful but you work in black and white ? Is there something to see here ?
L: Haha ! Yes i did self-portraits in black and white which is not really accurate ! I don’t really know why… I guess i really like black ink ! (laughs) I think it has this power of enlightening the dark in everyone…
People often assume that i’m always happy because of the colours of my fur, but as many, i have struggles and anxiety to deal with. I’m not saying that i’m a sad artist working on pain and stuff but using black and white allows me to go deeper in the inside. For me, it’s like diving in an alternative universe of emotions, a more direct path to someone history. Wee-tah Wah-tah is commonly used to write words, when you draw with it, it has a meaning, you tell a story. You work with contrasts, simplicity. You strike directly under the fur.
T: yeah, i get it, no artifice. That’s true, your portraits leave a feeling of sincerity, purity.
L: I feel a little bad now that i have talked about darkness, because i don’t want people to think my work is depressing…! I like to quickly capture what my eyes can not see when i look at a furb. It’s a gesture, very instinctive, and the water helps me adding some nuances, some blur, to leave a kind of intimacy to the furbz who are portrayed. “Kinetic Smile” is an expression to go behind the act of smiling, when people are posing for example, this can be a mechanic reflex hiding something else, not always negative, but something else.
T: Don’t worry ! I can testify that your exhibition has nothing sad or depressing ! What i understand is that you want to go beyond the appearances. The result is very dreamy, i could easily forget the world outside looking at your paintings. The furbz almost become landscapes…
L: Yes ! I like to imagine that each person has their own inner map, inner land… Sometimes, the models let me see those personal spaces and that is what i enjoy the most when i work ! They are precious gifts… I want to keep up the effort to translate them on the canvas !
T: Thank you very much Loo ! I wish you the best for the future and i highly recommend your exhibition which is full of surprises !! My tah-tah way-lah is telling me that we are not done hearing about you !

🍊Furb StreetFood - EE-Day AH-Tah 🥙 by Tianita Miramax
Today, i eat at EE-DAY A-TAH (*Good-Food) ! I’m meeting three cooks who make typically southern furb food, from Bah-boo Koo-wah : Frutt-yumm-wah (*fresh fruit buns). Its a culinary specialty shaped like a furb beak ! The most simple version, is traditionally made with flour, grapefruit, carrots, roquette and fresh herbs of your choice.
But at EE-DAY A-TAH you can enjoy fruit buns filled with roasted pineapple, pickled plums and fikkas !! You can add delicious red sauce, very sticky and citrus flavoured… It is a paradise for all the gourmets ! If you’re not a fan of buns, you still can order equally tasteful salad bowls !
I had the pleasure to test the menu and this is my professional report !
🍊The star basic, TRADI-YUMM WAH : Bun, grapefruit, roquette, carrots, pickles and red sauce
verdict: delightful, i remember having frutt-yumm-wah back in the days, when i visited Bah-boo Koo-wah: YES this is the taste. Sour with the mix of pulp and pickles, spicy at the end of the beak thanks to the roquette and the sauce…! Very balanced, i recommend for beginners who are not familiar with the dish, it’s a safe choice !
🍍I’m almost full, but i can’t leave without ordering the PARADISE YUMM… with famous roasted pineapple filling… it seems to be a sandwich you never forget…
Bun, roasted pineapple, caramelised oignons, roquette, carrots, red sauce and honey mustard
Only one thing to say: DA-EE-TAH !! It’s a bomb for your tastebuds ! Very sticky tho, the thick pineapple chunks are melting on your tongue and are very easy to chomp even with a tiny beak (like mine!) It’s sweet and have this gentle toasted taste which is irresistible. Very gourmand !
I washed it all down with a grande glass of fizzy water and had no space left for anything else, but if you need some dessert, there are also options : icy cotton candy or frozen fruit juice !
After this mega meal, i go congratulate the chiefs ! Tiger, Amei and Chouquette are friends since childhood, they met at a dance festival and have stuck together ever since. The adventure of the restaurant started with a common passion for conviviality : they love to create recipes and make simple and good food to surprise people.
Chouquette: Bah-boo Koo-wah is a place of festivities, we host three annual really big Dah-no-lah (*festivals). Those reunions bring more than five thousand furbz from everywhere and last about one whole month ! So when you live here, its common to grow helping organise these events. There are stands with food, music, and everyone dance in the big grass hill, there are shows, firelights, it is really good ! My family was really involved in the fiestas, since my youngest age, i helped them to make food for the stand. When i grew up, i wanted to have a stand with my friends but not only for festivals, so we decided to create EE-DAY AH-TAH !
I see one furb of the crew, who just finished washing the dishes, graciously jump on the head of Amei.
Tiger: At the restaurant, i’m Tiger, the fruit preparator ! Fruits are the main element of our menus so this is really important to care about !
We use baby grapefruit variety preferently, to have juicy quarters, because if not, a single regular fruit is about our size ! I’ts more difficult to work with and if you cut it wrong, the pulp explode and you loose the precious juice ! But for the pineapple, we use regular ones ! We cut the fruit in Tee-loh (*logs), that we roast on a vertical spit several hours, coated in a secret marinade ! It’s a bit sportive, but one pineapple can make between 50 and 100 yumm-wah (depends ont the size of customers).
When i was a kid, i spent a lot of time hanging around at Dah-no-lah, i looked at the stands, you see, i’m a small one, it was very gigantic for me to see all this agitation, the balloons, the decorations, the fire under the skillets... I always knew i would work like this. I needed something physical, and linked with food making if possible. As you can imagine, i need to be precise and trained because there is a lot to do !
Amei: Ee, we are a good team ! All we want is to make people tummies smile ! We change the menu with the seasons to cook with the freshest ingredients ! We choosed to make YUMM-WAH because it’s easy to eat and very fun to cook ! And it is the symbol of Bah-boo Koo-wah : a furb beak full of goods !
Tianita: Its a beautiful idea, a simple sandwich in a shape of a beak, never empty...
The restaurant is located in a peaceful quiet street, full of plants, very relaxing !
