It had been after one of their little mid day trysts, as Claire liked to refer to them as. What she’d assured herself would only occur once had turned into twice, which has turned into a few dozen. She had no excuse for herself anymore.
She and the handler had learned each other so thoroughly over the past few weeks. No longer was Claire afraid to tangle a hand in her dark hair or steal a goodbye kiss after their lunch breaks. Even Zara and the other employees had commented on her recently softened nature. She smiled more, laughed a bit louder, even spent a bit more time with the animals. Marisol had changed her, and she felt something deep in her chest stir whenever she met those pretty brown eyes.
Touching up the last of her lipstick, the redhead slipped back into her dress, the filmy black material clinging to her body. Before she could ask, tattooed hands fluttered by her back, sleekly zipping her up. A lump caught in Claire’s throat; she almost didn’t want to turn around . Brave as she was stubborn, she did anyway, her seaglass gaze only lingering on her parter for a moment. In a rare display of affection, she stepped forward to drape her arms around the other woman, resting her chin on her shoulder. Only allowing herself the contact for a moment, she pulled away, pecking her on the lips with a mumbles “love you” before excusing herself.
