Fear of Flying by Erica Jong
Dawson's Creek: "Double Date"
The Perfect Host (2010)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
David Hyde Pierce caught my eye on this movie poster. I am hugely in love with his character on Frasier and am so disappointed that he isn’t in the reboot. However, casting him in this film was absolutely genius. He is stupendously sick and polite the entire time. I adore him, even if he is so eerie in this character.
I knew this film would be so sinister and twisted, but I didn’t expect the turns it would take. Yes, I was absolutely mesmerized the entire time.
Watch this film:
For more Niles Crane, but absolutely off his rocker
For the dance scene and the sensational dialogue like “You can’t kill me, I’m throwing a dinner party.”
Similar titles:
Psycho (1960) (DHP’s character is very Norman Bates)
The Voices (2014) (Similar dark comedy with an unreliable protagonist)
WATCHING
The opening was 13/10.
The goth chick's quips were 10/10.
Adrienne Barbeau is always a 10/10
But after that it makes Toxic Avenger look like James Cameron's Avatar.
They killed the Goth girl, that's what took what little steam it had and abruptly crashed into the ground.
The Gravedancers (2006)
Release Date: July 15th, 2006
This movie was originally released in late 2005, but was part of a horror movie festival in July 2006. Anyway, it actually kind of scared me. There were lots of shadowy things happening. It’s a movie about demonic ghosts, basically. A group of friends dances on some graves in a graveyard, and the ghosts of the people buried in the exact graves they were standing on come back to kill them. The people were buried in the “bad guy” part of the cemetery, for context. It’s starring one of the main cheerleaders from Bring It On, which was really surprising, but that makes a little bit of sense, because aside from seeing her in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she hasn’t been in anything notable, that I know of. Anyway, this movie was ok. Don’t go into it with high expectations.
Rating: D. Spooky, but not super entertaining.
Badassery is a cool thing but I also not less really want more of romance like this...
