maaan. i forgot how much i love megaman star force. i demoed it a lil just to make sure my wii u injection worked and i fell in love with the combat system and music again. such a VIBE of a game
beat the first Mega Man Battle Network game through Operate Shooting Star!
A very rough around the edges type game and one that definitely took some willpower near the end to beat, it starts doing some really lazy back-and-forth backtracking between NPCs to progress. Shame since the battle system and deck building remains super super good throughout!! I loved fighting new enemies and getting their unique cards and then seeing how I could fit them into my deck, and it really felt as if I was always rotating between playstyles (a bummer you cant save multiple deck loadouts, though)
story was very harmless and plain, felt a bit too barebones and didn't really even do a good job setting up the main cast honestly. Chaud is funny but that's about it. but of course its the MUSIC we gotta talk about ‼️‼️‼️
theres such an interesting vibe to the game's soundscape that im still enamored by. it takes such good advantage of the GBA's original Game Boy sound capabilities althewhile employing samples in such interesting ways. I'm so excited to hear the sound evolve across the 6 games going forward...
All in all, I had a good time, even with some of the more ineptly designed dungeons like the Power Plant. super excited for BN2!!!
