The story I made up behind this was that Hades desperately wanted Meg to seduce Hercules so that she could lure Hercules to his destruction. Since Zeus was holding a ball for all of the mortals, Hades knew Hercules would be present. He magically gave Meg a beautiful new look since she was poor and sent her away. She blew all of the girls away, and Herc noticed her immediately. After they danced, they ran away to the gardens to speak to each other. About an hour later, Meg noticed it was about to strike Midnight, and if she didn’t lure Hercules to where Hades instructed her to, she would be in great trouble. The clock suddenly struck midnight and she found herself running away.
