Today I've had a lot of time to reflect. I stopped by Meg Menzies Memorial and took in the the structure which stands in honor of her. I prayed. I listened. I asked God for guidance. I thanked Him. I thought about all the lives this one person touched. I thought about all the people who wore those shoes, where their journey has taken them. You see, our physical lives are fleeting. We wake up each day thinking we have nothing but time. Time to do this, time to do that or time to spend in bitterness towards each. People lives change in a moments notice. Things are going to happen. It's how we react to them that shows our true character. How do we build a strong character? How do we master our emotions to life's circumstances or situations? Some of us pray, some of us exercise, some of us meditate and some of us reach out to help others. Today I prayed, I exercised and then I began to read. Reading helps us learn strategies to either help ourselves or others. I picked up this book today. I read the forward and intro and it slapped me in the face! We look at our lives sometimes and think we have it bad or see our problems bigger than we could ever imagine...well, there's always someone with a bigger problem or issue. It's how we allow ourselves to respond to it. Mind over everything. We make a choice everyday to be better or continue to stay where we are because of someone else or some circumstance or limitation we've placed on ourselves. Get over it!!! Get over yourself!!! Learn from your past experiences and do better. It's simple really. Strive each day to have the mental toughness this life truly requires. Help each other find it, regardless of how hard it might be. Lay down your pride. Lay down any hint of arrogance. You are what you think about yourself. You portray your thoughts through your actions.
