Mehtar had found the small fairy trapped in the hummingbird feeder one morning when sent out to water the garden. He blinked as he watched the swirling ball of pink light fluttering around inside, banging against the glass in a vain attempt to escape. “Easy...easy...” he whispered, reaching out and taking the feeder down from its hanger. He smiled as he gently opened the lid, watching as the pink light flew out, lingering around his head for a moment before taking off again.
He forgot about the encounter until a few weeks later, when he was woken up late at night by the sensation of something heavy settling down onto his bed. He sat up slowly as he opened his eyes and he gasped when he found someone sitting at the foot of his bed. The figure looked human, his hair wavy and black and his eyes a deep blue. He smiled at Mehtar, dressed in silks of soft pink and white. “Hello...”
“Who are you?” he softly asked.
“I am called Jan,” the other answered, smiling at Mehtar. “You saved me.”
“I saved you?”
“When I was trapped with the nectar!”
Mehtar thought for a moment but then perked up when he realized what the other meant. “You're the faery!” he said.
Jan smiled, moving closer to the other. “I am in your debt. Fae always repay their debts,” he explained to him.
“You don't have to,” Mehtar assured him with a shake of his head. He blushed when the Fae placed a hand on his knee, biting his lower lip.
“Does this make you uncomfortable?”
“I...no, no it doesn't,” Mehtar confessed.
“May I repay you for saving me?” Jan whispered.
Mehtar nodded his head, closing his eyes as the Fae leaned forward, pressing their lips together in a gentle kiss, guiding Mehtar down onto his bed.

Mehtar watched quietly as Jan looked over the data pad his grandfather had handed to him before leaving. The slave sat with his hands in his lap, tilting his head to the side patiently as Jan looked up at him. “Master?”
“The results came back negative,” Jan mumbled sadly, flopping down to sit beside Mehtar. “You don't have any connection to the Force.”
“Does this upset you?”
“No, not really. Not in a bad way for you,” Jan answered with a shake of his head. “I was just...hoping that I could teach you things.”
Mehtar just smiled, leaning forward to kiss Jan on the temple. “I don't mind not being able to use the Force. I love you either way.”
Jan smiled sadly, nodding his head before pushing himself to his feet. “I'm going to go and get us something to eat,” he said.
He watched patiently as his Master left the room. Quietly Mehtar tilted his head to the side, looking down at the information on the data pad. He smiled sadly as he noted the results, mentally glad that Jan was not clever enough to notice when information had been altered by someone else.
He turned the data pad off and lifted it from the ground with a movement of his pointer finger, placing it back on the table just before Jan returned with their lunch, smiling at him in fondness.
