1. conclave: incredibly touching and riveting story beautiful use of color, setting and lighting, and also gay yaoi priests with possibly one of my favorite representations of a spoiler, but it’s so good and it made the catholic autism go crazy
2. the batman 2022: i have HUGE amounts of batman autism, and this was such a breath of fresh air from the pseudo marvel slop we’d been getting for years. my favorite version of the riddler, a clear distinction between bruce and batman, a batman film that relied mostly on practical effects—- stunning and so important and dear to me .
3. ruby sparks is the first film I watched with my fiance mal and so it has a very special place to me. but besides that, it’s a fun film with a lot of really beautiful mid 2010s visuals, and a great commentary on the manic pixie dream girl
4. the prince of egypt; so. okay so i think that this film is quite literally the earliest peak of animation. a stunning soundtrack, a nondenominational telling of a story found in all abrahamic religions, genuinely breathtaking and so important to me. when little mei was a kid, she could not be around this film without beggingC crying (throwing a tantrum) to have it on the screen. it is to this day one of my favorite films of all time.
five honorary mentions. you may be asking “mei…. why is fresh here at 2.5 stars” and all i can say to you is. sebastian stan being a cannibal makes up for the lack luster writing.

As for aesthetics that I didn’t make up myself, I really like the fairy/nature/farm vibes of cottagecore. Also, apparently there’s something called chaotic academia which is like, dark academia but adhd and it seems cool as hell.

I’d have to say autumn. One, the word autumn is extremely pretty, and too, I love going outside when it’s not freezing yet but there’s that crisp fall air and the leaves are changing color and falling and it’s really pretty. Summer nights have to be a runner-up though, the air on a summer night (at least where I live) is amazing.

So something like this!! A jade handle and jade-colored chinese dragon-esque art on the sheath. Maybe instead of silver, the metal is black and there’s also some red on the handle somewhere, like as an embedded gemstone or something.
