A/N: small references of homoph0bi4, physical 4buse/Daryl’s back, implied suggestive (?) this is just my headcanon/AU. it’s actually all thought out but this is what i can scrape up for now. i’d like to write it one day ! IF YOU DON’T LIKE THIS, JUST SCROLL AWAY. DNI IF YOU’RE JUST GONNA BE NEGATIVE, HATEFUL, ETC.
in this hc, he’s a gay man but has it under wraps and doesn’t talk about it. many think of him as a lone wolf (which he is, don’t get me wrong) and has never been romantically involved before. what many don’t know is that Daryl very much had only one person reach his heart. the person was a man named Dallas who he met when they both were teenagers (16/17), way back before the apocalypse. during that time, it’s already been years since Merle left for the army and their sister Madelyn left for college (she was kicked out and forbidden to see/visit Daryl by their deadbeat father).
Daryl and Dallas’s relationship unfolded with time, years. they were friends and then they had a deep talk, which ended in Daryl risking everything to confide in Dallas about his sexuality. you know how things were back then. Dallas’s reaction was the first time in Daryl’s life that he wasn’t met with a cold sneer or a strike of a damn belt. Dallas accepted him for who he was and made it known that he never saw Daryl as a lesser person. this eventually led to them holding hands.
slowly, their relationship became more romantic. stolen glances both in public and private. in secret, they held one another, kissed each other’s cheek, and then on the lips. they’d talk about anything and nothing, Daryl mostly listened since he loved to hear Dallas. Dallas equally adored Daryl. he’d always help Daryl look after himself, he just couldn’t help it. Daryl would often grunt about it but never shook Dallas off. can you imagine Dallas’s reaction to Daryl’s back ? he hugs him tight and cries for him, Daryl was never much of a crier (due to his deadbeat father Will).
they loved each other. it took Dallas a while to gather the courage to say those three words to Daryl. Daryl wanted to say it back because he knew he loved Dallas—but he couldn’t bring himself to say it. Dallas understood perfectly why without Daryl even telling him, and he never held it against Daryl. Dallas can see how much Daryl cared for and loved him, and he was happy with that.
when Daryl was 19, he finally walked away from Will and the hell he had to live in for all his life. he and Dallas moved into a little apartment two towns away. they kept up appearances as roommates.
things were going great. when they first moved in, that was the first time they’ve done it in an actual bed. past times were on a worn out mattress in Dallas’s old shed (Dallas would tell to his folks that he and Daryl were gonna go hunting and excuse the long hunt with a white lie), on a blanket deep in the woods, or in Will’s beat up truck whenever Daryl took it. they held up quite a domestic life with each other, which ultimately contrasted what Daryl saw between his parents growing up.
they were happy.
and then Merle was discharged three years later. things changed for the couple the moment their telephone rang. Merle was able to reach them because Merle had talked to Dalls’s uncle who thought that Dallas must know about Daryl (they don’t know that Daryl was living with Dallas). Merle and the other man knew each other from drug dealing. Merle didn’t know who Dallas was, but thought he’d give it a try. a day or two later, Merle called again and Dallas gave the telephone to Daryl. after years of not talking due to circumstances, the brothers talk again. Merle wanted Daryl to accompany him like old times. Daryl said he’ll let him know.
things went from one to another, Daryl pondered for a long time. Merle wasn’t as open-minded about many things. Daryl remembers many times when Merle and some others would jump guys who they thought was gay and not “normal”. suddenly, Daryl remembers that Merle offered to drop by Dallas’s place to pick him up. Daryl looked around and it was undeniable that Daryl didn’t just crash here and there.
knowing how violent and ill thinking Merle could get, he never wanted to put Dallas in a terrible situation. Daryl loved him too much to let anything happen to him. but something else was clawing at the back his head, his loyalty to his older brother.
eventually, Daryl had to choose between his brother Merle and his beloved Dallas. Daryl knew that if he chose not to go back with Merle, Merle wouldn’t stop popping up again and there would be a constant danger for Dallas. he also knew that if he chose his brother, he wouldn’t be able to live knowing that the pursuit of his and Dallas’s dreams had gone one sided.
at age 22, Daryl leaves. he couldn’t even face Dallas when he said goodbye. he feared that he’d accidentally kiss Dallas dumb in front of Merle who waited in his old, stolen truck. Dallas watched the truck go down the road.
Daryl found himself pressing the heels of his palms against his eyes.
in the present time, Daryl and Carol sit next to each other near a makeshift fire. Daryl had confided in her about the love of his life.
for more than 20 years, Daryl lived without any real reason and even more regrets.
the biggest one: he never got to say “I love you” to Dallas.
Steve walked side by side with Jonathan, his best friend since childhood. The older was going on about stuff the two were into. While he rambled to his best friend, Steve admired Jon who just smiled and listened to him with content.
“And I was going to—”
Steve stopped himself when he noticed that Jonathan’s attention was on someone else. He looked forward to where the other gazed at.
A tall, curly blonde guy stood by another guy and they conversed about who knows what. This guy was new to Hawkins. The said blonde turned to look over at the two.
Steve turned his gaze back to Jonathan who still had his eyes set on the guy but this time began to smile. The brunet looked over again to make sure that he was hallucinating it.
“Yes, Kota?” Naoki retorted from his spot in the landry room, the younger brother Yuuki was strapped onto his back, playing with his rattle toy.
“Daddy’s on Uncle Shou!” Kota watched Katsuki and Shoto wrestle on the living room carpet. You can hear them mutter nonsense towards one other.
“Kouchan! Yuuch— Shou, Kacchan?!” Izuku exclaimed as Kota opened the front door to his knocking. “Kou, what’s going on?” The older Kota questioned, appearing next to Izuku. “Where’s Ma and Yuu?”
“In the laundry room!” Kou answered cheerfully, hopping onto the older’s back.
Meanwhile, Izuku was struggling to get the two off each other. “Shou, hon! I don’t think Naoki would really like to see you and his husband fight in front of his kids!”
“We can stop this once you admit that my dates with Izu are better than yours and Naoki’s.”
Katsuki growled, arm baring his cousin-in-law, “Over my dead body!” He shouted.
“Is-is this is really all because of who’s dates are better?!” Izuku exasperated, trying to tug the blonde off of his husband. “Please, Naoki and Yuuchan can walk in any second.”
“Whoever’s shoulders both touch the floor loses.” Naoki’s calm voice chimed as he walked into the living room with little Yuuki on his hip, Kota and Kou soon appearing next to them. “Oh! Good morning, Izuku. Would you like some milk bread the kids and I made earlier? I haven’t eaten breakfast yet, the kids and men-children did. I’ll make coffee.”
“Yeah, Niisan! Ma makes the best milk bread!” The twelve year old brightly lit. “Can I join, Ma?”
Naoki softly chuckled, “Of course, Kota. There’s plenty. Come eat, Izuku.” Nervously, Izuku made his way into the kitchen from his spot next to the wrestling males. “It’s okay, Izuku. They always do that, the kids aren’t bothered by it. So, don’t worry about it.” Naoki whispered as the two looked out into the living room. Shoto seeming to finally win. Kou pounced onto his father, Katsuki, then one year old Yuuki joined onto Uncle Shou.
The brunette smiled, Izuku softly chuckling at their partners’ silly doings, Kota ate, amused by them.
The brunet was taken aback as the blond fought to look at him in the eyes when he said that. The brunet cleared his throat from the lump caught in it.
“You don’t know me.”
Johnny, the blond, looked into his baby browns, for the first time in a different way. Daniel, the brunet, had another lump and looked at anywhere but him, regretting replying that way. Though, it’s the truth. He was expecting either a punch or a kick in the gut and was met with…
“Can I see Mama?” The little one asked his Uncle Shouto. Shouto knew it’s been almost a month since the last time they went to visit the boy’s mama. The heterochromatic man smiled down at his nephew. “Of course, Champ. Let’s just get Izu, I’m sure he would also like to see him.”
The four year old beamed and went off to get himself ready. Just then, Izuku had finished duties in the kitchen since it was his turn and made his way into the living room. “I feel bad for not having Kota visit Naoki as much anymore.” Izuku frowned at his fiancé hearing that. “I know, Shou. Me, too.”
“Mama!” Kota exclaimed at the sight of his mama on his hospital bed, running up to him. “Kou, be careful.” Shouto called out after him with Izu trying to calm the ball of sunshine down. “Hi Mama!” The little one greeted with a big smile on his face. “Missed you!” He climbed onto the bed and, carefully, snuggled into him.
The two older males greeted Naoki as well. They took turns speaking to him.
A doctor soon came in and asked for Shouto. Izu insisted he’d stay with Kota, giving him and the doctor privacy in the hall outside of the room.
“Mr. Todoroki, we’ve been trying and taking our time for Mr. Yasuda. But… he’s showing no sign of waking up.”
Shouto’s eyes widen, “You’re saying—“
“Yes, we might have to pull the plug.”
“But his heart’s still beating! He’s still here! I know it!”
“Mr. Todoroki—“
“You shouldn’t ever lose hope! I know he’ll wake soon. His son waits every day and night to get the call. Asking: “when’s Mama coming home?” You’re a doctor, you’re supposed to do all you can to save and help people! Please…” Shouto was crying at this point. “Don’t pull it.”
The doctor sighed, having empathy for the young child and the man’s family. Knowing full well he was also the one who had pulled Katsuki’s four years back, he was Naoki’s love and Kota’s father. “Please.”
as BNHA has now ended, i want to go on here and just introduce my OCs and AU/HC ! i’ve had this oc and storyline since the sixth grade i think lol and i’ve been tweaking it over the years. so, here goes nothin !!
his name is Naoki Yasuda and he is the same age as Class A (and attends that same class).
he has three older siblings: Taiki (half-brother, the eldest), Yaeko (eldest sister), Kumiko (older sister). keep in mind that there are significant age gaps between the siblings (i even confused myself :,>)
their parents died when they were young, since Naoki was about 3 years old, Kumiko was 6, Yaeko was 9, and Taiki was 14. before their parents’ deaths, their family was in the working class—nowhere near the ballpark of the middle class. after the tragedy, the kids were left dirt poor and lived with their paternal grandmother who also ends up passing two years later due to her chronic illness. since before their grandmother’s passing, Taiki had already stepped up to look after his siblings and his grandma.
Taiki tried his best to get them around in legal ways, but it was difficult sometimes. so, he did resort to odd jobs and some theft. however, when he got older and matured, he was able to barely grasp his first ever legal job at the age of 15.
eventually, Yaeko also got a job when she was 14 (which is a couple years later). she was good friends with a girl and her family. so, they were able to get her a fake ID to lie about her being 15.
so now, the two older siblings would put together as much money as they could from their jobs and side hustles (theft & pawning, Taiki may have had a better job by 19, but money was still VERY tight, especially since he was withdrawed from school and didn’t have a high school diploma, Yaeko was then doing the theft without Taiki’s approval).
Kumiko and Naoki tried their best to contribute but Taiki and Yaeko wouldn’t let them because they didn’t want him to follow their not-so-great footsteps. they always made sure the younger ones didn’t go on an empty stomach, to have great hygiene, have clean clothes, and to be as content as possible.
they were really on their own though. no one ever held out a hand for them after the fake ID for Yaeko, but it didn’t really hurt their feelings. no, because it actually fueled something in the Yasuda siblings: to help others in any kind of way.
from the very beginning of their family’s tragedy, it gave Taiki the dream that many kids had always dreamed about: to become some kind of professional hero.
his siblings were very supportive.
time went on, Taiki was in the top 3 of the final points for the entrance exam at a hero school for those seeking a second chance (he was about 21 when he began his hero studies).
Naoki, from a very young age, watching his older brother being so selfless and the best influence, and then seeing Taiki reach for a wonderful title—which is something Taiki very much deserved—made the young boy want to become a hero as well.
“Kacchan, when are you gonna ask Naochan to be your valentine?” Izuku asked his best friend as the two sat in his dorm. Katsuki clicked his tongue, and grunted in response “Not now, it’s too early.”
“But it’s the 10th?”
“So?”
“Valentine’s day is right around the corner.”
“Your point?”
Izuku sighed as he paused his craftsmanship of a valentine gift for his beloved Shouto. “What if some other guy already asked him?”
Katsuki side eyed the other, scowling, “I doubt that.”
“Class 1-A and I heard that this guy from another heroics school likes him.” Izuku pressed further as he continued with the gift. “And who knows, he probably asked Naochan out already.”
Katsuki growled, menacingly then chuckled, “Yeah, right.”
The four days went by so fast, and yet Katsuki did not ask Naoki to be his valentine, much less asked him out.
When it was class, Katsuki sat at his desk seeming unamused by all the banter around him about valentine’s day. He huffed as he heard Shouto and Izuku act lovey dovey, being a little envious that he couldn’t be with Naoki because he didn’t ask him out or anything. In the corner of his eye, he sees Naoki revive a goody bag from Mina. She smiled warmly a him and said “Happy Valentine’s Day Nao!” Naoki smiled and thanked her, Mina went along to give the other classmates goody bags that they deserve.
Katsuki couldn’t keep his eye off of him. All throughout class, it was eating him up inside. The “it” being the regret of not asking him out.
Alas, everyone was in the common roomy of the dorm enjoying their treats and what not. Katsuki kept himself away in the kitchen while he watched Naoki and Shouto talk while Izuku clung onto the latter. Those two, not involving Izuku, are cousins, so their playful “gossip” kept them pretty content. The blond catches himself smile fondly at Naoki’s genuine smile, like back in class.
It’s already past midnight when Katsuki kept tossing and turning, for four hours since he usually slept so early. He grumbled to himself angrily and just couldn’t go to sleep.
When he’s had enough of the itching feeling, he shoots up from his bed and darted to the door. Naoki’s dorm was the only one by the girls’ side of the dorms (due to his intimate anatomy). Thankfully it was the first dorm getting out of the common room.
Right when he walked into the common room, someone walked in from the other side. Their eyes widened in surprise and right timing.
“Good evening, Bakugou. Great timing.”
Katsuki was taken aback. “I wanted to see you, I just couldn’t find the right time. Is now not a good time for you?”
“No-No, it’s perfect.” Naoki smiled at that. “I wanted to ask you something for the past couple of days, well, weeks actually.”
“Yes?”
“Go out with me..Please.”
Katsuki was looking down as he asked. After a moment of silence, he decided to look back up thinking the worse. But Naoki brought Katsuki into cheek kisses and a sweet, chaste kiss. “Yes, of course.”
The newly-boyfriends smiled as they hugged and kept each other warm the rest of the night in one of their dorms.
