D&D Race Breakdown: Fantasy Icon Maker by meimrr
Picrew Overview here
D&D Race Breakdown explanation here (see for colour coding guide)
How easy is it to create the core D&D races using this picrew? Let's discuss!
Human (4 star)
This picrew offers 9 face shapes and 3 small body types in six natural skintones ranging from very pale to very dark. It has 2 rounded ear options plus the standard eye colours (brown, blue, green or black) and curly, wavy or straight hair in a range of styles. Excellent variety of facial hair too!
Halfling (4 star)
Given that halflings physically resemble humans but smaller, all of the above also applies here. It's a head-and shoulders only picrew so height is irrelevant.
Elf (4 star)
Elves benefit from the same range of skintones, hair and eye options as humans, as well as a variety of unnatural colour picks suitable for most elven subraces (such as purple skin, red eyes and white hair for drow). Most importantly there are 4 variations of pointed ear to choose from, ranging from human sized (but pointy) to very large.
Half-Elf (4 star)
Half-Elves benefit from all the same options as elves and humans as described above. However, if your character's non-elven half is something other than human, this picrew's fang, tusk and horn options may be useful.
Gnome (3 star)
Gnomes are typically portrayed as slightly bigger halflings but with pointed ears and oversized features (especially noses), so they benefit from all the same features as half elves. However, the inability to resize features in this picrew makes it hard to portray the giant nose that is their main distinguishing feature.
Dwarf (3 star)
While none of this picrew's 3 body types resemble the dwarf's characteristic stocky build, the fantastic variety of facial hair somewhat makes up for it. Again it's head and shoulders only so height isn't a factor.
Half-Orc (3 star)
Again, the three body types available are all quite small and narrow shouldered, so not ideal for a typical orc/half-orc. However, there are several tusks to choose from and a range of skintones including three shades of green (though book purists may be disappointed to learn there's no grey skin option)
Tiefling (4 star)
This creator is excellent for tieflings. In addition to normal human skintones there are three shades of red and 15 horn variations. There are a range of fangs and you can even have wings if you want!
Dragonborn (1 star)
Unsurprisingly this character creator is not particularly suited to dragonborn, although horns, scales, fangs and wings can combine to make a draconic humanoid of some description.
Conclusion
This is a wonderful, versatile character creator that works great for all the core races as long as your character isn't broad shouldered (or dragonborn) I would especially recommend it for tieflings and elves.
