Mejai's Soulstealer for Supports

+20 Ability Power

Unique Passive: Grants +8 ability power per stack and 5 stacks upon first purchase.

Gains 2 stacks for a kill or 1 stack for an assist (max 20 stacks). Half of the stacks are lost upon death. At 20 stacks, grants +15% cooldown reduction.

The latest changes to Mejai's Soulstealer have made it so much more gold efficient and, thus, made it a much better item for supports.

The mentality behind this purchase is either you live and support through the fights, building more stacks. Or you get focused because of your early AP but giving your carry more breathing room to stay in fights better.

Now, supports that would make use of this are supports that can make use of it early in laning by having good AP scalings and can safely get stacks in the midgame.

Supports that can make use of it early in laning are people who can use the AP for a more significant boost in poke or increase sustain in lane by even the smallest of margins. Even with the smallest of AP scalings, if it heals one additional health, shields even one more hit, or deals one more damage, it makes the purchase worth it so you can come out ahead in lane.

Supports that can make use of it in the midgame are champions that have huge AoE effects that affect multiple allies, enemies, or both. This is usually accomplished with heals, shields, or buffs. However, they need to be also applied safely without putting the support at risk.

Supports that would work great with Mejai's Soulstealer.
