Mel reads...Aspergirls: Empowering females with Asperger Syndrome by Rudy Simone
I'm kind of divided on how I feel about this book. Like the first half of the book was really good, it talked about how aspergers in girls presents differently than in boys, but it was very contradictory at times. Some advice she gives is solid, however some of it is misguided and again I feel like it kind of contradicts itself. I related a lot of this book, being autistic myself, but I found that it was too focused on the authors personal experiences and her point of view. I did like the fact that she had quotes from autistic females, however I think it was too focused on her to successfully educate on asperger's in girls. Having said that, this book was very informative, and I think it is a good place to start for those who are wanting some understanding of how autism presents in girls.
