Prompt 30 “Insecurity” for Grayson/Mel??? 👀👀👀
Thank you for the prompt anon! Sorry for taking so long 😇
Grayson found Mel in the living room, staring out of the window as if seeking something.
“I wondered where you had wandered off to!”
Mel jumped a little, but barely lifted her eyes from whatever she saw outside. “Oh? Yes. I came in here again to check everything was ready.”
Grayson eyed the room half-heartedly with an amused expression. “Everything to your pleasure then?”
“Hm? Oh, yes! Looks good.”
Grayson chuckled and then moved up behind Mel. “Khoshgelam, there’s no need for you to be nervous.”
It was only when her hands slid around Mel’s waist that the younger woman finally averted her gaze from the window and turned around so her eyes could meet Grayson’s.
“What if they don’t like me?” she whispered.
It was a soft and fragile voice and it pulled strongly on Grayson’s heartstrings. “Why would they not like you?”
Mel shrugged, her shoulders sagging a little. “People don’t seem to like me much. Not as a person.” She sighed at Grayson's raised eyebrows. “I just never met a lover’s friends before. I don’t really have friends of my own, so how could yours end up liking me?”
Grayson sighed. “It pains me to see you struggling with this so badly, my love. You shouldn’t be scared of what they think. Just show them that you’re a good person, and if they can’t take that, then screw them.”
Mel laughed at that, and while it didn’t completely relax her, she seemed to regain her usual confidence after that, which pleased Grayson.
The evening turned out to be a success. There was the odd moment when she felt her inquisitive friends were taking their interrogating of Mel too far, but living up to her name and reputation, Mel always found elegant and smooth ways to guide the conversation back into more comfortable waters. In the end, it was obvious that the group had welcomed this new member into their midst.
“How are you feeling?” Grayson asked her young partner, as Mel slid her hands around her neck after having closed the door behind the last guests.
“I don’t know. Happy, relieved, tired but also still a bit nervous.” Grayson kissed her forehead soothingly. Mel hummed as she closed her eyes in relaxation.
“They’re nice people.”
“Yes. You fit in perfectly.”
Mel hummed again.
“Let’s go to bed,” Grayson muttered, now resting her forehead against the other woman’s.
Mel’s eyes opened, searching Grayson’s glance. “Shouldn’t we clean up first?” she asked softly.
“I can do that tomorrow.” Grayson used her hands to massage Mel’s lower back softly.
“Are you sure?” Mel wet her lips unconsciously.
“Positive.” She let her hands slip a little lower, eliciting a soft moan from Mel. “I want to take you to bed, now.”
Mel moaned again and then stretched her neck to kiss Grayson hungrily. “Then take me,” she whispered against her lips when they parted again for air.
Hiya!
For your prompt thing, if you wouldn't mind doing a lil smth with Grayson x Mel for 4. Cooking together, that would be great!
Also, good luck on your assessment!
Thanks for the prompt, sorry it took so long!
Help me, please.
Those words were enough for Grayson to decide that it was time to call it a day at work. The stack of papers that still needed signing and proofreading glared at her, telling her that there was still much to do; however, who was she to ignore a call for help by a council member?
Grayson grunted. She knew she was fooling herself and considered for a moment taking some of the reports home with her. “I’ll just come in early tomorrow.” There was no one there to hear her, but she still felt voicing her promise increased its credibility.
She managed to leave the building fairly quickly. After decades of working there she had figured out ways to move around without crossing too many paths. Even though the night shift was already preparing to take over, there were still too many people in the building who would like a chance to stop her and pester her with random questions and problems that she was supposed to solve within mere seconds. At this hour of the evening she really didn’t care. If anyone had an important issue, her deputies would contact her and anyway, she had urgent business elsewhere.
@mjsharizai asked me in the comments for #31. Proposal - Mel x Grayson, and now I finally got around to writing it. Sorry for the wait, but thanks for that prompt MJ! 🧡
If asked whether she had anything in common with her mother, Mel would always admit to at least one aspect: Their pride. Mel was a proud woman, and she wasn’t shy admitting it. Being proud meant being confident and being capable. Two aspects, Mel certainly felt like she owned.
That being said, (unlike her mother) she knew that she also had shortcomings. Processing her own emotions, for example, had always been difficult for her. However, she was an adept learner and she knew that being aware of one’s weaknesses was the best way to start working on them.
Mel had learnt many things about herself in the last two years. She had grown as a political power, but she had also grown as a person and, most importantly, as a partner. Being with Grayson had helped her discover new qualities in herself, all of which she was, once again, proud of. She knew that if asked, Grayson would say the same thing. They made a pretty good team indeed.
It was because of all of this, that when Grayson casually commented on Mel “not being as good at romance as herself” that Mel’s pride was tarnished. Grayson had no idea just how romantic Mel could be, but she’d find out soon enough.
