I feel you. At this point, I feel like the best option to reset things a little bit to where Lucifer doesn't reveal that Eve is Charlie's mother and is forced to tell Charlie. I know you don't want to do it, but you and I both want a happy ending, and this current way isn't it. If anything, this current way is making you depressed and just leads to a dead-end literally.

I believe that at this point, we aren't going to progress unless a change is made. Sorry for going to therapist mode here.

You make a fair point. The problem with a retcon is I can't take back the knowledge that has been revealed. Eve being Charlie's mother was something I'd wanted people to discover eventually, just in a way that didn't involve Lucifer breaking his word. So, I can't really take away that being public knowledge now and have you all discover it anew in another way. Also, the story has progressed since it all happened, and that would also make retconning complicated.

But the last anon did give me an idea with changing up some of my lore in a way that only affects the future and not the past. It's a bit of a convenient solution, but I think it could also be good for the story.

Now the problem will just be having the time to do it. A lot of it is going to have to be things I write up, with time for answering asks in between the fics. And April is a busy month for me because it has both my birthday and a convention, so it might still be a month before I can get to it.

Lilith Update

I'm almost done writing up the Lilith stuff, so I thought I'd share how it's going to work, since it's a little different than anything I've done here.

It has been divided up into 5 short fics that will be posted one at a time with time for questions in between them. I'm currently thinking this will take place Saturday, May 2nd, but if that changes, I'll let you know.

Oh, no, we caused a writer's block? I'm sorry. I just had to get too smart about the whole Eve thing and be figuring out that her death and Charlie's birth were connected.

I mean, I wanted people to figure that out. I just figured it'd be done without Lucifer directly saying anything to break his vow - with him just beating around the bush and answers being found in what he couldn't say, and then he'd still be able to confirm pieces of the story. So long as he didn't directly say anything, it wouldn't violate his promise. But since he did directly say, that meant there had to be consequences for him breaking his word, and Lilith getting his soul I hate, but it was the only logical outcome. (The only other possibilities were him completely losing his power or his throne, and those would've been even worse to deal with.)

This also means he has to tell Charlie stuff that I didn't want her to find out because it is going to have a huge effect on her and put her in the spotlight more than I want her to be. Not that I don't like Charlie, I love her, but the only reason she isn't a minor character is because I tried that, but it didn't really work on the hotel's website. She's up there in the list of characters basically just to deal with hotel stuff, and I'd never intended to do big character arcs with her, and this is going to completely shake everything for her. She's going to spiral, and I don't even know if I know how to write that.

hey mel, if husk was allowed to tell angel dust on his own terms that he was a part of the vees, do you think their relationship could've turned out differently?

It was more that there was no opportunity to ease Angel into it. They were shoved into a room with truth gas and immediately Husk was asked if he used to be one of the Vees, so that all got dumped onto Angel with no warning. He was basically thrown into the deep end of the pool and immediately started to drown.

If the conversation had been able to develop more gradually and Husk could have prefaced things and prepared Angel for the truth, it still would have been rough, and Angel might have had to take a couple days to process, but I think they probably would have gotten through it.

While on the subject, the route that was taken of Angel becoming an Overlord has also been rough on them. It had benefits, such as Angel being able to free Husk and Angel getting more perspective on what being an Overlord is like, but it's also hard for Husk to see Angel as one of the A/V Club when him being one of the Vees was what came between them. Same with seeing him so close to Vox, in general - which their closeness was a direct result of how things played out in the HuskerDust break-up, since Angel turned to him in the aftermath. He doesn't blame Angel for any of it, it's just hard for him to reconcile it. I don't know if this path made it necessarily harder for them to get back together, because like I said, there were some perks to it too, but it definitely added a new obstacle to overcome.

The In Each Other's Shoes arc was another thing that had both pros and cons for their relationship. They connected some during it, and some good conversations were able to happen, but it also forced Husk to face just how much Angel is living his past life and it caused him to relapse, which definitely isn't helping anything.

Then of course, whenever Angel feels pressure, it triggers his trauma response of avoidance, due to having always felt like he had very little autonomy to make his own choices. So, there's just a lot to overcome with them.

Housekeeping Update

So, I'd started an arc that was meant to basically be a gradual thing tying up some loose ends, but it has spiraled out of control twice, so Chain of Events has now been divided into three arcs.

Daughter's Keeper - Lucifer's parenting decisions are questioned, and his resolve for keeping certain secrets is put to the test.

This is a concluded arc that contains all of the Charlie locked room shenanigans.

Ghosts - Lilith may still be in Heaven, but the shadow she casts is still felt by Lucifer and Vox both.

This one is still ongoing and is focused on Vox and Lucifer dealing with their feelings regarding Lilith and everything that's happened/happening with her. I debated putting the first 4 posts from Daughter's Keeper in here, since I'd thought they were setting up for what I want this arc to be, but I think they were part of what led to everything that happened there, so I opted to keep them where they are.

Grand Opening - As Valentine's Day approaches, plans are made and relationships are examined (concurrent with the Ghosts arc).

This one I'm planning on going through Valentine's Day (probably a few days after because I'll be celebrating with my husband and won't be on here as much the day of) and the opening of Angel's restaurant. At least right now, I'm keeping the Angel/Husk drama in it, since I think it's tied enough to Valentine's Day to not warrant making it its own thing (but Angel's conflicting feelings about the rose was supposed to be a minor thing to lead into a loose end that has thus far only been hinted at, so we'll see).
