Okay so I’ve previously said on tumblr that people should listen to more Australian pub rock and stuff (essentially more Australian music other than like AC/DC) well here’s some of my recommendations (in no particular order):

(Imo live version of jump in my car is just alright, studio version imo is much better but they took it off Spotify)

(Actually pretty much the whole ball power album is great)

(Again whole album is like 10/10 unless you listen to it way too many times like myself)

I’d put like dragon and split enz down as something else to listen to but uh they’re technically from nz (same with mother goose)

1. Kathy is associated with yellow since she wears it a lot and so does Sandy. Julie wears a lot of blues and greens but most of them include that in their outfits, Denise wears a lot of reds and blacks. Jack, Trevor, Bruce and Charlie wear a lot of dark colours (pretty much all the sharpies wear dark colours and the brushes wear lighter colours since my story is historical fiction)

5. Since all of them are sharpies their clothing is more or so a mix of practicality and aesthetic stuff

6. Julie and Sandy have long hair, as of my newest chapter of the story Kathy has short hair, Denise has short hair in the front and longish hair in the back and everyone else has short hair. They all care about their hair a lot

I wish more people on tumblr were interested in the sharpies and their culture because their culture is so interesting

Honestly, I get why people hated the sharpies so much; the media portraying them as all evil and most of them looking mad all the time etc, but the sharpies are so interesting to me and I think they always will interest me. They’re interesting because of the people they disliked, their fashion choices through the decades and the music

Similarities between female sharpies and other subculture where women were prominent/ had their own unique styles etc.

Sharpies and flappers:

1. Female sharpies especially in the 60s had short hair which was mainly similar to that of the flappers.

2. Both female sharpies and flappers wore dresses though there were some sharpies who wore jeans or other types of pants and shirts.

3. Probably never interacted with each other, unless someone’s grandma was a flapper idk.

Sharpies and mods:

Both sharpies and mods were rivals though they were quite similar in the sixties with music (though some sources say otherwise), and the girls had similar tastes in style eg: short hair, shortish skirts (mods had mini skirts while sharpies had woollen skirts that I guess could be considered mini skirts), both wore tights especially in the colder weather but that’s where the similarities in fashion end. Both hate rockers.

Sharpies and rockers:

Both wear sort of woollen like dresses or skirts, similar music taste but not really, the rockers didn’t really interact with the sharpies much also both hated mods and skegs / surfies.

Sharpies and skegs/surfies:

Both hate rockers. That’s all.

Sharpies and stylists:

Similar music taste, not much info on stylists, probably another name for mods idk
