surprised nobody else has mentioned this… am i the only one that got the implication that this is something that happens a lot? how many stairwell conversations have mel and dana had?

mel offering to replace dana's smoke breaks (when she quits— again) with talking and venting and decompressing in the stairway together, just as they had done before, but now on a more consistent schedule.

dana offering to make mel come on her fingers in some cramped, mostly unused staff bathroom they pass on the way up to their spot, when the resident's clearly had a worse day than her, clearly in need of some relief.

and dana's been doing this longer (30 something years, mel briefly recalls from one of their conversations, about what all this work can do to you), so she must know best.
