they re-signed the first time in 2021, which was actually early, as their original 7 year contract should have been up in 2022. seungkwan said in a fancall that their second contract was for 5 years so I guess it is about time! I had wondered whether it would be 5 years from 2021 or from the original 2022 expiration, but I guess we got our answer
my understanding is that 5 years for a second contact is actually pretty long, and that most groups re-sign for 2-3 years (I don't follow other groups closely so cmiiw. but it would make sense bc after 7 years a lot of idols like to explore solos or other aspects of their career like acting or hosting variety, etc. so it would make sense they wouldn't want to lock themselves down to group activities for too long)
that being said it definitely has gone fast, the renewal kept up on me too 😭 idk if it's just bc I've gotten older so time seems to move faster in general, but I feel like the 2020s have barely started, time has just flown by these past 5 years 🥲
