Happy birthday to @melindathecavalrymay (and I am sorry that this is late!). I offered my writing services as gift to do something of her request, and got asked for companion!Philinda. So I’m doing a start to their journey with Thirteenth Doctor!Fitz and companion!Skye.

“So where to first?”

The Doctor was directing question to the two of them. Melinda turned and exchanged a glance with Phil. Skye was perched on the railing by the console, swinging her legs back and forth. She was smiling mischievously at the two of them, looking unchanged from the last time they’d seen her a year ago, when they first met her and the Doctor at the Academy.

“You want us to pick?” Phil clarified. He was still taking in the interior of the box they had entered. Melinda was too. She couldn’t believe it was actually bigger on the inside, yet it actually was.

“You’re the newest members, you get the first pick,” the Doctor shrugged, fingers tapping against the console near some buttons. “Anywhere you want in time. Or space, that’s out there too. The choice is yours.”

Melinda turned back to Phil. “I know where you want to go.”

“We don’t have to.”

“Oh, come on,” she grinned. “You know you really want to.”

“Yeah, but you deserve to pick a place. Especially after Sausalito.”

“What happened in Sausalito?” Skye asked, perking up.

“He left me in the bay,” Melinda sighed, shivering at the memory of the cold water.

“Hey, I said I was sorry when I fished you out. Look, just pick a place. Or a time. Think of it as making up for that.”

“Phil, your birthday is closer. Just pick the place.”

He sighed. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, now tell him!”

They turned back to where the Doctor and Skye were awaiting their decision.

Phil cleared his throat. “Can we go see Captain America?”

“Of course,” the Doctor grinned widely. “When?”

“Um, the forties? You know, before he vanished.”

“Why wouldn’t you want to met him in-”

“Doctor!” Skye coughed loudly. “We’re in the eighties.”

“Oh, right,” the man reddened. “Yes, of course, we can go to the forties.”

Skye hopped off the railing. “Might want to grab onto something when we head out. Sometimes, he starts out a little rough.”

“I do not!”

“Tell that to the bruise I got after we were running from the Huns,” Skye shot back.

“We were in a rush. There were Huns!”

“I know, I was there,” Skye laughed before turning back to Phil and Melinda. “Seriously though, you actually should hang onto something for your first trip.”

The two friends moved quickly to the railing so they could hang on. Melinda noticed Skye suddenly smile at them.

“What?”

“It’s just...you two,” she shook her head. Her smile was happy and sad all at once. “You guys are just a really cute couple.”

“We’re not a couple,” they said at the same time. People were always saying that about them, telling them they were a cute couple. But they weren’t. They were just the best of friends. Thick as thieves. Nothing more.

Skye raised an eyebrow at them as the TARDIS shook suddenly. Phil was thrown against Melinda before he righted himself. Melinda turned around and watched the rotors up at the ceiling move around. A smile crept across her face. She was actually traveling through time.

A dull thud sounded as the rotors slowed to a stop. Skye released her grip from the railing and followed after the Doctor. Melinda walked after her with Phil at her side.

“Welcome to 1944,” the Doctor announced as they exited the TARDIS into a bunker. “Now, Steve Rogers should be around here somewhere...”

The fine sand blowing into her face was starting to get to her, but Agent May held steadfast and peered out into the vast desert compound through her binoculars, looking out for any suspicious movements."Stop worrying. It'll be quick," Coulson said as he perched beside her on the rooftop. "I'll go in, secure the target and we'll all be on our way. Easy peasy."May lowered her binoculars and peered at him. "I should go in instead.""We both know I'm better at negotiating, May," chuckled Coulson.May gritted her teeth. "Fine, but if anything happens --""You'll meet me halfway," nodded Coulson, as he held his hand out. Well I am hoping to get Han/May [what should the ship name be Hanmay? Maylo? Melsolo? XD] for the Intothebar challenge on LJ so keep your fingers crossed that happens. 

But when’s your birthday I can write it for that!!!
