Spider hates when his siblings sneak up on him because he "I have breathing problems/asthma you jerks." And even though they laugh, eveyone would panic if Spiders mask broke or he even breathed funny.
Neteyam keeps a spare mask for Spider, even after they go to the metkayina village and spider gets taken. If Neteyam still dies in this au, and spider goes through his stuff and finds it, that is what causes him to break down.
If spider isn't taken and goes with his family to the metkayina village, he holds it over his siblings heads that his mask helps him breath underwater and makes him a better swimmer.
Lo'ak breaks any bullies arms/hands if they he gesture like they are going to pull Spiders mask off.
Spider being the most human looking of his siblings but still having Navi stripes and spots and them glowing too. He loves them so much, because it's proof that he's a Navi.
I love LOVE bio kid Spider au's because at first glance, it like, solves pretty much all the problems, at least for Spider. But in actuality, I think it just creates a whole host of new ones.
Kiri is now the only adopted kid, the only one who has never known their parents. I think she still connects deeply with fellow freaks of nature Spider and Lo'ak, but there's a real distance now as the only adopted one. I think she'd keep that to herself.
Lo'ak's big part of his childhood is proving himself, feeling different, feeling less than. How can he ever justify feeling that way with Spider as a biological brother? Not only does he have perfect good boy Neteyam (he's not perfect obv but in Lo'ak's eyes), but he has an older brother who is disabled essentially and is much more obviously different than him. I think he'd bottle that feeling up much more, and kind of hate himself for feeling it.
Spider isn't just unfortunately born as a human to human parents anymore, Eywa chose him to be this way. To be weaker physically, to be unable to handle certain foods and activities and even the air of his home. I don't know, that's gotta feel like even more of a punishment from god than just being a human kid.
I talk about this all the time so I don't need to go into it anymore, but Neytiri's first born being fragile, breakable bones, and unable to breathe the air? Having to see her baby almost choke like her mate did in his fragile human body?? Anyone who ever disliked her relationship with Jake can just point at Spider and say "See, we told you this was wrong." And imagine the fear in her second pregnancy oh my god.
Jake human guilt machine Sully, you've cursed a child to this existence. Obviously they all love him and give him the world and believe in him but it would be hard not to feel like it's your fault your dna did him like that.
Anyways, the idea of someone making a move to pull of Spider's mask, OHHHH my god my heart dropped out of my ass like that's HORRIFYING. It's not Lo'ak breaking bones it's Neytiri like making up personal life ruining agenda's against every Na'vi child that ever even make a joke about that to Spider. Also fuck you for Spider finding the extra mask in Neteyam's bag, I will cry.
