Drift! New Jersey Inhabiter! Inquiry 🖐️ I’ve heard the Knicks won their first game in like, forever, and some people were joking that the celebrations could be heard all the way in New Jersey, and I was just wondering is that?? True???
(COMPLETELY ignore this if you live on like. The south side of NJ lmao. Hope you’re doing well <33)
To quote that one viral video. I LIKE MY MAYOR MUSLIM. MY BAGELS JEWISH. MY CHRISTIAN DIOR. KNICKS IN FOUR
It’s true though it’s very true, the Knicks are two games away from winning the NBA finals and you can indeed hear the cheers from jersey. Not necessarily from a “there are parts of Jersey directly across the river and they physically heard them” standpoint, though tbh I would not be shocked if that was the case. But moreso from a “the people in those parts of Jersey were ALSO watching and cheering as well.”
New Jersey sport loyalties are very interesting because with the single exception of the Devils we do not have our own sports teams. So if you are closer to NYC you pick the NY teams and if you are closer to Philly you pick the Philly teams.
As a New York Mets fan I can never root for a team from Philly on principle. But that’s neither here nor there. Anyway. Yes, a tremendous part of NJ folks are rooting for the Knicks. With the exception of women’s soccer (WE LOVE YOU NY GOTHAM) there has been no major NY sports team to win a championship in. A very long time. So. We need this.
Additionally the emos in the tri-state area are also rooting for the Knicks as thanks for winning the previous round quickly enough that BMTH did not need to postpone their concert (because the Knicks play at the same arena that BMTH was playing at) so even not-really-into-sports people are also rooting for the Knicks.
It’s a big time. We need this. Knicks in 4 🙂↕️
