I actually took a picture of myself I like in one go!  Here it is, filter free.  (It’s not that I think I need filters, not anymore than I think I need makeup.  It’s that I really like playing around with makeup and filters both.)

The lipstick, by the way, is Creamy Matte Lipstick from Mellow Cosmetics, in Chocolate.  Came in my Ipsy bag this month.  I love the color and even the smell, but it comes off on everything.

There is something about baked eyeshadow that makes it super special. But let me start from the beginning though, since today I am talking about more than eyeshadow. Actually, I am going to introduce a whole brand: Mellow Cosmetics. CEO Ima Asali wanted to create bold yet chic makeup that would be good for every woman, and here I have some products to show you.

Firstly, I want to talk about the Creamy Matte Lipsticks. They are super rich and creamy indeed, so they are not drying at all even if they have a matte formula. The finish is not as matte as with, say, a lipliner, and I think this is because its very emollient nature. The shades pictured are Madness (bold red, slight blue undertone), Atomic Rose (red, clear orange undertone) and Danger Zone (lovechild of fuschia and red). All are very pigmented and last long on the lips - but careful, since they can actually stain a bit.

Then we have the powders. Firstly, the Blush in Pink has a very matte finish, and it is not chalky at all, though it needs some work for thorough blending. The Baked Eyeshadows were probably my faves, even if one of them was destroyed! Damn you, long distance travel. Anyway, they are very silky, apply like a dream, and have no fallout. Bronze is a very warm metallic shade with the same shine. Opium is more complex, since it is a brown-taupe shade that looks warmer when light doesn’t hit it directly, and colder when it shows its metallic shine. In the pic, they are shown with and without primer.

In general, the quality is quite good, and I would love to see how lighter eyeshadow colours perform. I believe some shades could totally double as highlighters too. You can see the whole range at the Mellow Cosmetics site, so go go go!
