More Tumblr! More... music? New Song to be released today.

It’s occurred to me that I should post to Tumblr more often, and not just reposts of what I’ve been sharing on Instagram. I’ll still keep sharing my Instagram feed, because I like to, but there should be more music-blogging happening here.

29 Degrees (All the Years Go By/Be You)

So, on that note... unless you follow me closely you’ll see that I’ve released a new song on January 5th (yesterday). The song is “29 Degrees”, and I should probably give it a sub-title in parenthesis, because 29 degrees isn’t very descriptive. The name came from the day I started working on it, the low temperature in Lodi, Califonia happened to be 29* Fahrenheit, and it happened to stick. I’ll probably change it to 29 Degrees (All the Years Go By/Be You), since those words are prominent in the song.

I really like it, and I put quite a bit of work into it in the last couple days before release. In fact, the original song had no vocoder, and because of how I like to use vocoder effects, it had a lot less interest happening by way of the vocals. With vocoders I really like to use external modulation, like to play a synth routed to the vocoder to change the melody of the singing. It’s pretty classic vocoder use, but done in a slightly more modern auto-tune-ish kind of way.

I’ll release more in-depth information on the production process for that song, maybe including a video just to keep things visual. I’d like to take you through the basic steps of why and how I do what I do, to bring you a bit more into the little world I occupy in my home studio.

Down to Earth (In My Dreams Tonight/You Make Me Happy)

Today I’ll be releasing yet another song that had been in the works for a while, just not nearly as long as 29 Degrees, that one having sat around on my hard drive for 3 years. This next one is currently called “Down to Earth”, and it will probably receive a parenthetical name just like 29 Degrees. Probably something like “Down to Earth” (In My Dreams Tonight/You Make Me Happy).

I’ll do a little bit of work on this track today before release, to make sure it’s a proper alternative dance tune. 

I started typing out more stuff, but I realize that should be in another post... so, here’s this one! Hope my casual blogging style isn’t too casual. Blame California... I’ve been irreparably changed by the culture of this state, for better or worse. I wouldn’t have it any other way, really.

So, stay tuned to see what I’m doing... should be many things to come. I have a semi-large back-log of music to share, and many many more songs yet to be made. My first awakening in music was discovering my fondness for creating it, and my second awakening I consider to be happening now as I share those creations.

I also really love to support fellow underground artists, so follow or comment and I’ll comment and/or follow back - the community is only as tight as we make it. If you produce electronic music, especially of the alternative type (not mainstream EDM, brostep, etc...**) feel free to accept my friendship, I have only good things to give =)

** I don’t dislike mainstream EDM or bro-step artists, it’s just something that gets enough attention as it is. I don’t really listen to much music like that, but if you do and you want to be friends or collaborate then that’s great too, let’s do it =)
