Album Adoption: What is it?
I’m always looking for great deals on good music. Granted, the word “good” can be subjective, but I tend to feel that most music is worth at least a buck (most of my finds are $1). As such, I don’t have a problem defining affordable music as “good.”
What I find enjoyable about shopping for cheap music is the fact that I’m able to give a second life to records without a home. When I stumble upon a clearance section of music, I view it as an island of misfits. Sure, the albums might be used or have a couple of scuffs on the outside case, but that doesn’t devalue the art inside or the enjoyment that their songs once brought to eager ears.
I thoroughly enjoy digging through the music of our past and being able to provide neglected music a new home. I view it as a form of adoption (hence the title of these posts). Some records are classics, some are of one hit wonders and many are of guilty pleasures. Either way, these records deserve love.
Check in regularly as I begin sharing adopted music posts. Hopefully they'll serve as an inspiration and encourage others to begin adopting!
