in my opinion, there is no such thing as happily ever after. it's a term and a concept that we've been conditioned to want more than anything. we all want to think that, while we're going through tough times or horrible breakups or getting broken hearted, that one day everything will be okay because we will find our one true love and settle down and forever live happily. that mindset is what gets people through the day. but happily ever after doesn't exist. life just simply doesn't work that way. no matter how good things are, bad things will still happen, and life isn't stable. there is no such thing as stable. life isn't that consistent.  and as far as love goes, i firmly believe that the people you love most, your soulmate, your true love, the love that burns your lips and engulfs your soul in flames, are the same ones that tear you from limb to limb and break you into pieces. they're the ones that you love too much to ever be with forever. they ruin you, and break you, and teach you so much about yourself, but you can't be with them forever.  at the end of the day, you end up with the person you can spend a week with at the beach and that you can tolerate being stuck inside with for three days while the power is out during hurricane season. you end up with the person who wants to pick out names for your children and redecorate the kitchen and have your parents over for sunday night dinners. you never end up with the one who makes you see fireworks.
