If you love Maomao for freaking out over medicinal ingredients, may I direct you to another funny yet awesome anime heroine - Melphie - she loves monster meat and gets over-excited when she sees a new monster she can cook a dish from, she rambles on about the characteristics of the monster like Maomao does with ingredients.

Plus, she has a wonderful, strong guy who thinks her zoning out about ingredients is endearing. Only difference here is, where Jinshi doesn’t get the girl for a bit, the Duke snags Melphie right away as his fiancé…although both are a bit love dense but that’s what makes them adorable dorks 😂

So, seriously though, if you’re suffering from Apothecary Diaries withdrawal go watch ‘Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!’. It’s got humor, romance and just enough drama to be interesting but not annoying.
