Hey friends! Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been posting less than I used to, and I’m here to explain why!
It’s because I have become a sewing fiend! Pictured are nearly all (minus a couple other versions of that second last one, the shirtdress) of the clothes I’ve made since late last summer! It kind of started when I got into making Christmas presents for people (a coat for my partner’s mum, and one for my own) and I loved it!
I bought a secondhand sewing machine to use while I’ve been at school and it’s been a lifesaver to have this to work on when I need a break from school. I love learning new things each time!
Additionally, I saw the documentary (on Netflix) The True Cost in the fall and it made feel like I should actually take steps to do something I’d been considering for a while, which is avoid supporting companies that perpetuate fast fashion, that don’t treat or pay their employees well, and that have no regard for the environment. So I haven’t bought a single item of clothing since at least December 2015, if not earlier. Hopefully I can stick to it.
Anyway, this has been long but I’m hoping to start posting more sewing pictures as I go on here so I won’t just drop out of existence again. :) It seemed like a good time to post this, since it’s Me Made May!
My current project is making jeans for the first time with my sister, @friday55textiles.
