Every day of May I documented what I wore and what I worked on.
Don’t know if I told you guys I was working on this, but I just completed the Fleur Top by Fabric Godmother, in this gorgeous red cotton poplin also from Fabric Godmother.
The pattern was super easy to follow and fun to sew! I’m so happy with the fit.
Notes: I made a size 16 B cup sleeveless top. The only adjustment I made was lengthening the bodice above the peplum by 1 1/4 inches which I think is so much more flattering on me than the pattern as written, which is meant to fall at your “natural” waist.
Wore it to work with this RTW white button down and my cherry earrings (that you can barely see) and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments! It’s fun and trendy for the summer but is also roomy enough that I can layer it for fall. Really happy with this make!
Finished a new dress. Fabric is hand-dyed (using avocado pits) and hand-printed rayon using a linocut and rubber stamps, pattern is True Bias Shelby Dress altered with a lace-down back fish pattern is my design.
The Helen's Closet Donovan skirt was an easy project and I sometimes forget it's something I made, because it seems like RTW!
I made the shorter length, no drawstring (I am team Never Drawstring, especially the ones that aren't even functional).
This fabric was hard to keep steady during cutting so the pockets are a little floppy I think from that. But they're equally floppy so I'm fine with it!
I should make another one in a color or print. I learned when making the toile that fabric drape and hand are important for making an Enjoyable Skirt!
Todays make was this wee apron. I used so old thinning sheets that matched my Me-made Hinterland dress perfectly 🥰
I made a sling bag🥺😭🥺 #memademay #crotchetlove #crotchetbag #yarnandhook https://www.instagram.com/p/COV8QvWLzMD/?igshid=11ph18ipgzpxs
Day 9 of #thevintagefashionchallenge by @makethislook , @tinyangrycrafts and @iliveinmylab .
GREEN
I've made a circle skirt out of this fabric, which i wear none-stop in summer. I love this dress too, but just never have the event to wear it to.
Pattern: Made by me ( years ago)
I will probably sell this dress on my etsy, it is just sad if it's just hanging in my wardrobe.
To all my followers,
Today is the start of #MeMadeMay. It’s something the maker community (sewers and knitters, but probably other groups of creators too!) does once a year to show off their handmade wardrobes.
So, apologies in advance for the amount of photos of me in different outfits you will be seeing for the next 31 days. You don’t have to interact, you don’t have to like them, but they will be here for a full 31 days. I thought it best to warn you before it became a “am I on the wrong blog” situation ;)
Thank you and I’m sorry in advance.
Xoxo,
Orchid 🌸
