Blog prompt #2+3
Memes have several benefits and restrictions to them. Some benefits to them are that they get a point across in a different manner than we are used to hearing news through; a simple picture with a few words on it. You can get humor, offense, political views, and opinions all from a very simple picture. They also get to the point quick, and get spread very quickly over the internet. some restrictions are that they don’t tell the whole story behind your point, and they can be misleading to those people in the audience. They also help us communicate in a different way. Today, memes and meme language is used in our everyday conversations, if you’re into that. People can reference something through using a meme and others will understand it. It shaped language like it was a bridge between what you are trying to say to someone, the meaning, and the person receiving the message. These memes can carry a huge amount of power, also. for years, they have been used for political debates and social movements, along with the funny and entertaining aspect they can bring also. They are powerful through people who understand them. they are not as effective for people who don’t know anything about them, but if you can understand their layers of meaning, you can see the propaganda and information they’re sometimes secretly trying to convey.
